Unbelievable incredible work by Horimaki, worth every single penny. I'd had this tattoo for 17 years, and it was a difficult job due to the size, shape, and additional scarring from stretch marks. Maki was thorough and patient, and her work is brilliant. We collaborated on the design, as I came in unsure of what exactly I wanted, but knew there were indigenous images of serpents that had been calling to me. My desire was essential some kind of a snake, with a feminine bent to it, and she recommended the Japanese snake and peony design. Two sessions, 7.5 hours later, and we had the perfect tattoo. We drive up from San Diego for every appointment, and let me just say—it’s absolutely worth it. Inked Zen has become more than just a tattoo studio for us. This is now our sixth session, as my boyfriend is working on a full back piece, and every visit has been a consistently positive experience.
Despite the drive, we always try our best to be on time, but when traffic happens, they’re incredibly understanding. That kind of patience and professionalism makes a huge difference. The vibe at Inked Zen is so warm and welcoming—we always feel safe, seen, and well cared for.
