Although this place is listed as "urgent care," it also offers primary care. The doctor I saw there -- once -- seemed good, but the place is an utter factory. I objected to an intrusive and demeaning questionnaire. The supervisor there got on the phone with me and totally misinformed that my insurance wouldn't reimburse for the office visit unless I completed it. a) The problem is she was totally wrong (or lying, or both) -- anyone has the right to refuse it and still have the visit reimbursed. b) The questionnaire is part of a "wellness" exam. Problem is, at no time did I schedule one -- just follow-ups for my blood panel work. c) She insisted the questionnaire was "for my care." Really? They need to know if I have a will, if there's a bar in my shower, stuff like that -- for blood panel work??? And being asked to draw a clock was completely demeaning. Absolutely none of their business -- and what on earth does that have to do with my bloodwork?! Worst was that she met my complaints regarding feeling demeaned and my privacy invaded by the questionnaire without the slightest bit of compassion or understanding -- only combativeness: "It's required! Cedars Sinai requires it! (Not for a follow-up, they don't.) Your insurance requires it! (As noted above -- wrong.) I'm gonna have to escalate this to my supervisor -- do you want that?!" Not "Maybe I should connect you with my supervisor." No, she kept using the word "escalate" as a threat. I got the distinct feeling she wanted to bully me into accepting her edicts so the matter could be presented to her supervisor by her as something she had handled -- and that she didn't care the slightest thing about what I was expressing. The woman is a militant monster who does not belong anywhere in the health care field. I subsequently sent a message to my doctor. It was intercepted by another robotic person who did nothing but follow the party line. The main switchboard operators will demand to know "what the call is in regard to" when reaching out to someone in a doctor's office. And heaven forbid only a perfunctory answer is provided -- "It's regarding my medical care" -- the caller is then reported as "rude." Again -- really? There is nothing personal nor humane about this office. It is a medical factory -- and "factory" is never a word that should ever be applied to anything in the medical realm.
They will see a patient with MRSA but COVID after 3 years and a version that is mild scares them too much and will force you to leave. No sign out front to warn, just a condescending head RN. I guess I'd be scared too if I was overweight and had comorbidities but if so maybe change careers like I was told to do if I had objections to the job requirements. I tried calling 5 times that motor clarification and when I get there the front desk is fraternizing and weren't busy to answer phones. American healthcare is the greatest fearful institution in existence.
This review is specifically for the reception desk at the Urgent care and Cedars overall. For an expensive hospital with such a great medical team, I cannot believe how terrible the reception, front desk, and call center is. No matter what department you call, it's guaranteed the receptionist will have zero bedside manners and lack any customer service. Jane at the Urgent Care on Wilshire really should pay attention to patients and be more efficient, instead of chatting about what shift she wants with her co worker.
