ProTec Building Services is a fraudulent company that should be ashamed of themselves and be put out of business immediately. Our HOA contracted them for a simple paint and exterior repair for a small portion of stucco that was slightly damaged when a terrace was removed. ProTec never reached out to us to make an appointment, instead, an employee HOPPED our fence and began working in our backyard WITHOUT our knowledge or permission. It wasn't until my husband who was working from home, noticed someone had put up a ladder outside of this office window. Not only was this a complete invasion of privacy and security, ultimately trespassing, but this could have been worse if our dog was in the backyard and had gotten out due to this. We immediately filed a complaint with our HOA about this who then said they reached out to ProTec and all they got back was that ProTec would "look into it." Completely unacceptable. On top of that, ProTec then gave our HOA an invoice that included charges for OTHER jobs that were NOT ours. They also charged us for 7.5 hours of labor, when the worker was only here for 2 hours or less. These charges totaled almost $850, again, for jobs that were not ours. The other charges even had dates issued for days the worker was not even at our place and listed materials that were absolutely not used for our repair. We filed yet another complaint to our HOA regarding this issue who again, reached out to ProTec. However, it took over a month for them to respond. When they did respond, they said nothing but took off less than $200 the original invoice. They did not admit fault (or apologize) but rather took a couple hundred dollars off as if that was enough to justify what they did. I'm not sure if ProTec thought they could completely pull a fast on our HOA, and my husband and I, but I have never been more disgusted by a company. I am terrified to think of how many innocent people they have done this to, and gotten away with it. This is complete fraudulent behavior and this company should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, as well as be put out of business effective immediately.
On my way downstairs to grab something out of my wife's car and low and behold ProTec was parked next to our car. They just showed up, without ANY notice. The best example we can think of to explain the way this encroachment feels would be to imagine if you were to open the door of your home and someone was standing outside your door. No knock, no phone call but just standing there in your face. It's rude there isn't a better way to put it. As a business owner myself this act shows not only a lack of planning but little to no regard to customers. Keep in mind this was NOT an emergency that would call for this sort of off schedule visit. It turns out the company was here to redo the poor job they did TWO months ago. We wish this encroachment was the end of the story but.... The job was done even worse than the first time. They did use proper joint connectors but this really is the work of amateurs. The job leaked all over a rusty pipe which continued downward onto the car. To be honest... the damage to our car is WORSE than before a "fix" was put in place. They also did this work to another spot and a gal told me she ran into a city inspector who said they didn't pull permits for this work and it is not up to code. GREAT!! Gregg seems like a nice gentleman and that is a nice plus but when you hire someone you want results. We understand that people are human and mistakes are made but so far the entire encounter has been a series of unfortunate events. With over 25 years of experience but how many reviews?? This is what makes yelp great a chance to spare another homeowner from a nightmare. Regrettably, we cannot in our right minds recommend this company.
As head of the maintenance committee for our 100-unit homeowner's association, I inherited an existing maintenance contract with ProTec. Not only are they not responsive to emails, they inflate charges by sending out 2 workmen when one would suffice (do you really need 2 people to change a broken door lock?). Or 3 hours to remove a damaged gutter (and that's 6 labor hours!!!).In addition, they take little responsibility when their workmanship is faulty (as in, installing the wrong type of door lock - an institutional rather than a storeroom). Avoid them at all costs!
