We went a little different with our kitchen this time and skipped the usual glossy finishes. The cabinets are a flat panel style with a matte finish, so you don’t see fingerprints everywhere. Counters are a poured concrete look (not actual heavy slabs), which gives it some texture without feeling cold. They also ran the same material up the wall behind the range instead of doing a typical backsplash, so it feels more continuous. What stood out during install was how much time they spent getting the cabinet lines straight before locking anything in. The old bathroom had a mix of materials that didn’t really go together, so this time we kept it consistent. Same tile style throughout the shower, matching floor tile, and a clean quartz top for the vanity. They used backer board and waterproofing before tile, which I didn’t fully understand at the time but now I get why it matters. It doesn’t just look better, it feels like it was built with a plan instead of pieced together.
