“Great dental work, but make sure that this office is an in-network provider before you are seen. We sent over the dental insurance card by email before joining this practice asking whether they were accepting our insurance. They said YES but failed to mention that they would be an out of network provider. An expensive lesson learned here after dental work was done and the shocking bill came, but hopefully this will help another patient to not get into the same situation.“

“I have been a patient of Dr Nakamura’s for decades. Not only is he knowledgeable about everything dentistry but his persona harkens back to a bygone era where you were friends with your providers, and I do consider him a friend. He’s also been super generous and willing to work with me when I was in a bind financially or with health issues. He once came in on a Sunday because I cracked my tooth and he seemed happy to do it. He offers numerous options when a situation arises. If follow up is necessary he gives you all the information you need but respects his patients enough to let them choose what’s best for themselves while still offering his genuine opinion for your specific health needs. We’ve talked about every subject together and he usually asks questions right when he knows a drill will impede my response. He’s a class act as is his entire staff, especially Edsi (spelling?) whom I have most of my dealings with. She’s an absolute doll. His dad jokes get surprisingly more tolerable as the Novocain increases.“

Either they don't take insurance or if they do, their office is in shambles, the front desk person is rude or the Dr tries to upsell on procedures you don't need. Dr Kovalchuk is different. He was kind, considerate, listened to my problems and made time for me. His office views are unbeatable and his staff is the best in Marin. You're scheduled quickly and they actually call you when there's a cancellation. Everyone at this office is professional and kind. Dr. Kovalchuk is a game-changer for dental care in the Bay.“
