She wanted to know not just the look I would love, but also how much time I wanted to spend styling every day (not much); do I use lots of hair products (no); what tools I was familiar with (I barely run a brush through my hair most days, but I can use a curling iron), etc., so that she could customize the style into a hair routine that was realistic for me and my life! Emily was so kind and knowledgeable about framing my face, and also being mindful that though I wear my hair wavy and straight, I have curly hair, so the cut had to be proportional to when I do decide to wear it curly. Luckily, there’s one in Pasadena!I booked my engagement shoot last minute, and Grace was so kind to accommodate me. She and her team even did a video call to study my features before the actual session.

My makeup artist May, did an absolutely fantastic job, and I ended up booking her the same day for my wedding! I don’t usually wear makeup, so I trusted her completely and to my surprise, my makeup looked amazing while I still felt like myself.For my hair, I just showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she recreated it perfectly.

He’s a perfectionist, and I got to admire his work throughout the whole process from washing, cutting, shaping, to styling, he was absolutely meticulous, and has a very soft touch (never felt any pain, I usually do at most salons)! I must admit that I was a wee bit nervous at first upon realizing that the L’amour team speaks Chinese and little English, because how am I going to tell them exactly what I wanted - long layers with face framing pieces, not too choppy, but still good movement, and a little blowout? But from a short glance at a few saved picture examples that I had, and some expressive body gestures and communication, Sean knew exactly what I wanted, and gave me exactly what I wanted. On my way out, I saw an Asian girl who had bleached blonde hair, and let me tell you, it looked GOOD. So I think this place is a true gem with professionals who know what they’re doing.
