“Two weeks after my surgery, I was dealing with a lot more than just pain from the surgical wounds. I had really bad neck pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, insomnia, headache, constipation for six days, and frequent urination that caused me to wake up 1 to 3 times every night to use the restroom. I was taking oxycodone every six hours just to keep the pain under control. At my one week follow up, my surgeon suggested acupuncture for systemic issues. During my visit, he asked a lot of medical related questions to understand my condition. He was very attentive and explained why he placed needles on certain pressure points. I was exhausted yesterday and didn’t feel much different right away, but the results surprised me this morning. After days of taking stool softeners and drinking prune juice with no success, I was finally able to go. Even more amazing, my pelvic pain was completely gone. I couldn’t walk on my own yesterday and had to use a wheelchair because of the pain. This morning, I was able to take a few small steps by myself.
