Fairmont Whistler is definitely a must stay for when you ski or just visit whistler. I stayed in the alpine room with mountain view. The hotel did a wonderful job at making sure everything was perfect. The sms service is the best way to communicate with the hotel. Response time is very quick. The welcome gift of strawberries and macaroons definitely started the stay off just right. The staff always sent a text if I need anything else. The room was super clean, the bed was the most comfortable ever. I really liked the bedsheets. Usually it takes a while for me to fall asleep but not at the fairmont. To give context, we are fortunate enough to have stayed in top notch properties(Claridges in London, Peninsula in Hong Kong, Beau Rivage in Geneva) so I am comparing the Fairmont Whistler to hotels at that level. The property is beautiful, and perfectly located for convenience to lifts and to the village. We stayed on the gold floor which was spectacular! The room was spotless, the smellies were top notch but what really made the difference were the employees. Whomever is responsible for hiring and training - a hearty "well done!" First impressions are so crucial & the valet/bell team that greet you at this beautiful hotel have got that covered to perfection. Staff throughout the hotel are warm, friendly, attentive & efficient. We had a spacious slope side room with seating area to relax & enjoy the glorious view of the mountain, garden & pool. We enjoyed relaxed dining & drinks at the hotels Mallard lounge which has a lovely terrace overlooking the garden & often live music. The Portobello cafe has a delicious selection of breakfast/brunch/lunch options to eat in or 'grab & go' with a coffee.
