Excellent place! I’ve been going to Simon for a few years now, and I think his work is excellent. This shop is absolutely a hidden gem, and the only place I would go to get a basic men’s haircut.
Couldn't find the review I posted for this place from several years ago. After all this time MJ is the one I keep going to! Simon delivers EXACTLY what you ask for and does one better! This place probably isn't advertised cus everyone who's been is a return customer. Great no-fuss cuts every time. He sees the picture and gets right to cutting. I believe he's got over 30 years of experience yet the price for a cut here is less than half of what other salons featuring young new stylists charge and those are still often hit and miss for me. You won't find uncomfortable banter here, but Simon is always attentive to any changes of mind Midway through the cut ;)I would recommend...read full review
As a girl with short hair, I have to have regular cuts to maintain my pixieness; and every time I am faced with the same old conundrum, splurge on expensive, usually satisfactory haircuts or risk looking like a broom from an $8 haircut on Victoria Drive.I am so so happy I found this gem! I can't believe it has zero web presence while review sites are sending people to trendy, overpriced Japanese salons in Richmond. I went in on a quiet Tuesday, Simon was able to seat me right away. He had a great eye for detail and was very diligent in following my ideas. For an asymmetrical pixie cut, it had great flow and he used some techniques I had never encountered before. He has been cutting hair for more than 30 years and you can really tell his scissors have graced many more heads than some of the younger stylists around the block.... The whole experience including cut, a rince, and a blow-dry took about an hour, and he charged only $20 (women's haircuts go from $20+). Best bang for the buck, hands-down. You won't find service, skill nor price to match elsewhere in Richmond, will be going back. He says that a majority of his clients are regulars, which would totally explain why he looked a bit surprised when I walked in at an hour before closing. Am I spoiling the city's best kept secret!? Another bonus is the great location, right below Kirin Restaurant, on the Westminster Hwy side of Richmond Center!
