Legacy Taekwondo Academy is a new, independently owned studio dedicated to building confidence, discipline, and strength in students of all ages. As the only ITF-affiliated dojang in Alabama, this veteran-owned and operated family business is not just an 8-week belt testing factory, but a place to master the craft of taekwondo. The instructors are faithful, diligent, fun, and flexible, embodying the Five Tenants of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. The staff are wonderful, helpful, caring, and patient, with a genuine heart for individuals of all ages. Classes are structured and well-managed, with fun, silly moments that kids love. Students thrive on the encouragement, high fives, and fist bumps. Parents highly recommend this academy for any family, including single mothers, noting that the instructors are truly invested in children's success. Kids constantly ask to go back to see the friends they have made. Whether looking to learn a new skill or brush up on old ones, the quality knowledge and life skills taught here are worth the effort.
We have really enjoyed our experience with Legacy TKD! We started our hesitant 6 year old here as his first official extracurricular activity when we saw they had a day time class for homeschoolers. I expected a battle to get him engaged, but he loves it! The teachers do a wonderful job balancing strictness with humour so it stays fun.
Legacy TKD Academy is the only ITF (International Taekwondo Federation) affiliated dojang in the state of Alabama! If you are looking for a dojang to master the craft of taekwondo and not just an 8-week belt testing factory, this is your place. Though they just opened their doors August 2025, they are growing and they truly have a heart for individuals of all ages to succeed in learning the discipline of Taekwondo. We absolutely love Legacy Taekwondo Academy! This new, family-run academy has been such a gift to our family. They have been incredibly caring and patient with my 4 (now 5!) year old son.
You can truly feel the heart behind what they do. Mom runs the business side and is so kind, organized, and genuinely helpful. The instructor is a fantastic role model — he does an amazing job teaching my son to wait, be still, and listen before acting. Those life skills alone have been worth it.
