“We happened upon Jake's while driving through Birmingham during lunchtime looking for good, fried catfish. The plus was Jake's was also a Caribbean restaurant. I had the curried chicken with Caribbean rice and fried sweet plantains. My husband had the catfish platter, which was a beautifully fried, crisp piece of white meat filet. The curried chicken was delicious - a nice-sized drumstick and thigh, which were braised to perfection - moist and tender with no fat, how do they do that?? The curry was tasty and went perfectly with the rice. I love sweet plantains, and I was served a generous portion, so I had leftovers. I highly recommend Jake's!! Affordable, delicious food and generous portions, can't beat that!!“

“The best experience ever! Where do I begin? I had a hair stylist from the time I was in 6th grade all the way up until I was 21 and I’m now 24 for the past 3 years I’ve been trying to find someone and a place I can trust with cutting my hair because I have very curly hair that is really hard to work with and to shape right when it comes to having my haircut. I called about 2 weeks before I actually got my haircut cut and Stephanie was straight forward and honest with me about her scheduling and who would be comfortable and not comfortable with cutting my hair witch already gave me great confidence in the salon and also knowing that they will try and set you up with the right person for the style your going for! Stephanie was the only one who really felt comfortable with cutting my hair but she has a very busy schedule and couldn’t fit me in at the time I had originally called. She contacted me! After she had an opening happen in her schedule to squeeze me in and I agreed to coming in at the time she gave me. Stephanie gave me the best hair cut I’ve ever had! While talking with Stephanie in the process of cutting my hair I mentioned to her how my girlfriend had a trip to New Jersey coming up this Saturday and how she was trying to get a last minute trim before her trip. Stephanie then squeezed my girlfriend in with Chloe on the last minute trim that she needed and my girlfriend absolutely loved it and loved her experience with Chloe! For this being both mine and my girlfriends 1st experience here it was amazing and we will be recommending everyone to these amazing wonderful people! Both Chloe and Stephanie have gained 2 new permanent customers and I dont think you’ll have a better experience anywhere else!“
