My MacBook Air's 5-pin charging cable was not attaching properly. I took it into a major electronics box store, which told me the 5-pin connector was broken and I needed to buy a new one. Which I did, and of course, the new one would not attach.
I contacted MacMechanic to schedule a drop-off appointment for my laptop, and while confirming the appointment, I shared a picture. They saw that something was stuck in the connection, and I was able to remove it at home.
It was a stupid staple!
I feel a little dumb, but they were patient, super responsive, amazingly helpful, and would not accept payment.
