I purchased a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid here. In Yukon winter conditions, this vehicle requires extra equipment to function properly: a block heater, oil pan heater, and trickle charger, and ideally a heated garage. This was not clearly explained at the time of purchase.
After a -40°C cold snap, my car was completely dead even though it was plugged in all day. It took 6 days to get it towed and another week for the battery replacement. I understand this was an extreme situation and was patient.
The bigger issue was communication. After picking up the car, it had an engine warning light, the hybrid system wasn’t working, the car was pretty loud, and there was heavy vapor. I was told not to drive it and to tow it back, but it would only be checked at my next appointment.
My appointment was at 7:30 AM, and the car was already there three days early. I received no update that day. After many voicemails, I finally learned at 10:30 AM the next day that there had been internal miscommunication—the oil pan heater had not been installed, only the code reset. I then waited two more days to get my car back.
Staff were polite, but the lack of communication and delays were very frustrating.
⚠️ If you’re considering a hybrid in the North, be aware that extra equipment and a heated garage are almost necessary, and this should be clearly explained before purchase

Booked an appointment to have work done. I was told it was a couple hour job and brought my vehicle at the appointed time. After wasting over 2h waiting i found out they hadn't even started working on mine but had moved it out of the garage to make room for others. No communication and a disrespectful waste my of time that could have been avoided if they had been honest about the actual time it was going to take.

Dropped in as overlander with a 2017 Hilux with worn wheel bearing and leaking shock. Worst Toyota experience ever. They managed to order wrong shock and break a brake bleed valve, so my truck was struck for 3 weeks in Whitehorse. Also charged double Installation time as normal for bearing job. After only 10000km the wrong installed retainer at the bearing gave up, so i need a new one again. They don t want to take responsibility and blame it on the installed after market bearing, though it is still good. In Whitehorse you better go to Johns Auto repair.

Originally, when I was thinking about this review, it would have been a one star. However, as time progressed and communication with Toyota, particularly Holly, continued, it became clear to me that they valued customer service and value their customers. I do not live in the Yukon, but I have a vehicle here to drive while I’m working. There was a mixup in the spring with some work that should’ve been done and wasn’t, and then a vehicle that should’ve been ready and wasn’t. However, they offered a vehicle to use while mine was being finished, and then delivered it to one of the outlying communities where I was working. They have more than made up for the difficulty that was created. I highly recommend Whitehorse Toyota and will continue to be a valued customer until I retire and no longer need my vehicle. Thank you Toyota!

Awesome service! Shaun was able to fit us in last minute as we were passing through town. The service techs did a great job on the truck and the service advisors were very communicative. All around stellar service.

Great experience while I was travelling through the Yukon. Without appointment they were able to accomodate my urgent need for a service to my Tundra. Thanks

Travellers beware. If you’re a traveller with a Toyota passing through Whitehorse on your way to Alaska/Tuk and have an unexpected issue with your vehicle, don’t expect much sympathy. We developed an issue on our way through and was hoping to at the very least get an idea of the cause/severity so we could make a decision, the service advisor basically told us they were booked out 2.5 weeks and didn’t show any interest or sympathy in helping. Kendall Toyota in Anchorage was way busier (actually packed) and when explained our situation, they took us in immediately and made every effort to help despite not being a local customer, nor even a US citizen.
This incident happened on Aug 12/13.

Busy and hard to get an appointment in a timely fashion. They do care but are backlogged with procedures.
