After having spent 3 weeks flat on my back in a hospital I was admitted to the Rehabilitation Hospital of WI. In just 6 days their outstanding staff of nurses and therapists had me out of a wheelchair and back on my feet walking without assistance out the door. Their facility is spotless, meals were excellent. I was amazed sunny side eggs were an option for breakfast…those of you who have spent any time in a hospital will understand. And most importantly, the team of physicians led by Dr. McAvoy treated me as an individual and enabled me to participate in my care. I received the best medical attention and treatment. I had my knee replaced, and four days later at home the leg gave out I crashed to the floor and broke my ankle in numerous places. After surgery, the hospital sent me here. I was apprehensive to say the least. After one day of occupational and physical therapy, it was like I was a new person. I was confident and stronger, and felt like I could do this. After nine days I am going home. They’ve taught me to be able to move around and to be independent. I live alone and I am not apprehensive about going home. Being a very active person all of my life, so far, until I had to have a hip replacement that humbled me in more than one way. I do not think I could have rehabilitated as well without the expert input and care by Connor Claus. He never made me feel as if I couldn't succeed, but was kind enough to reel me back into logic when I wanted to be more active prematurely to the healing process.
