The second we walked in ,I felt like I had just entered a family member's house for a holiday gathering. Everyone was like hi and welcome, would you like this, and can we get you this. How are you and what can we do. They listened to what I wanted, and what I needed to avoid. And customized the entire session accordingly. I never felt like she was rushed. Or was rushing. She managed to cut around his ear without a loud shaver, so he never jumped or covered his ears. She was amazing,She engaged with him asking him questions and also just letting him be if he didn't want to talk.( He got to play Xbox
while he was getting his hair cut,so he was definitely happy) I loved, LOVED the place, and the people. And so reasonably priced, too.

So I found this place on the internet and noticed it was close to the place I had an appointment with. I wanted to get my son’s haircut as we don’t go often because he has autism and the last two experiences were not that great and he gave the last stylist at a different salon we went to a very hard time. I was nervous he would do the same especially when they brush his curls(he hates it because it gets matted). I brushed it well and put oil in his hair before I got there, so he wouldn’t give them such a hard time with that. I booked online and put in for the “do not like haircut” package and will need some time taken with him as he has special needs. When we got there, they welcomed us in the door and brought us to the back. They put him in a cool kids car and added some more conditioner to his hair to make sure it was softer for the brush they had to do. She definitely read my comments I put on the booking. They had one lady come in and gently prep him and brush his hair, so when the stylist came in, she could go right into the hair cut and not have to make him sit there to long to catch a meltdown. They gave him toys to play with and talked to him gently. They gained his trust, and although a tiny fidgety, they still were able to cut his hair nicely. He did way better with them than he did with the last kids solons we went to. He even got to leave with a pair of sunglasses he took a liking to. He is biracial and most salons don’t cut his ethnic hair right, but Justine( I believe that was her name) did great. I see so many bad reviews about them discriminating against special needs kids, but I didn’t get that experience or vibe from them. They were carful and kind from finish to start. I honestly don’t mind the 35 minute drive it takes to get there from my house, and I definitely didn’t mind paying $40 for his haircut or giving them the $10 tip I gave them, because they were great and we will be coming back for future haircuts. As a single mother of two autistic boys, I appreciate when my money and time spent is worth it. Thank you to both the ladies for making his experience a good one finally for him and doing a great job on his haircut. He looks so adorable.

My wife and I normally go to a place nearby to have our toddler's hair cut, but they were all booked up so we came here to have it cut. Last time we went to the nearby place it didn't turn out great.. I am glad we found A Hair For Kids! Because the hair cut turned out much better. She was also great with our son and gave him toys to play with while he got his hair cut. A better experience and better cut for the same price. We will definitely be back!

I took my 4 month old daughter for her first ear-piercings. The staff was so patient and knowledgeable. They worked together to make sure we had the best experience and was very informative about the process and aftercare. I was so impressed by the salon and the different services offered. Absolutely adorable space. I will return once my girl is a little older for the mommy and me mani-pedis, haircuts, and parties. ?

We got our 9 month old baby’s ears pierced here and overall it was an ok experience. We left happy with the results, however it was not exactly the experience or the environment we were expecting. The website advertised that 2 people would be there to pierce simultaneously, that was not the case. The woman who did it was nice but a little forceful with the piercing. I’m guessing because of the type of gun used. She told us to twist the earrings afterwards but we later found out from other people that you aren’t supposed to do that anymore. There was a kids party going on while we were there, so karaoke had little girls screaming and running around barefoot, all while trying to do this piercing. We are laid back people and really don’t make a big deal about things, but even we were like wow- that was too much. Not the “salon” setting I had in mind. I hate to write a bad review, especially because my daughter left with cute little earrings, but I thought I’d give parents a heads up as to what they may be walking into if they go here for this. *update: both earrings ended up getting infected :/ we cleaned daily and did everything as told. Thankfully, dr gave us ointment for infections and they cleared up.

Just love the results I got from Justine’s magic fix of my hair color after the “home box color” that was supposed to be strawberry blonde came out carrot colored. She fixed me with a pretty shade that my husband says is just perfect for me. Justine is very attentive and a good listener. I had her trim my hair as a walk-once before and I was happy then as well. The salon was recommended to me about a year ago and I kept that in mind and very glad I did.

My daughter had her 6th Birthday party here and it was great! The kids had a lot of fun and the staff was wonderful.

Drove 45 minutes to have my 2 year old daughter’s ears pierced. The staff was friendly, however, seemed very inexperienced when piercing. The FIRST attempt at piercing her ears was HORRIBLE. The initial dots when marking were even and then after piercing the earrings were not even relatively even and one piercing was much higher up than the other. They suggested we either take out the earring and repierce one side the next day or take it out and repierce right away. Again, i drove 45 minutes so i wanted to attempt to repierce right away. The SECOND repierce was not any better than the first. My daughter not only is having to go through a traumatizing experience but then is left with completely uneven piercings. As a mother, i was extremely upset because my child was already in pain from having her ears pierced once and then was left with a horrible piercing job AFTER A SECOND ATTEMPT. On top of it, the staff knew i was upset and I still had to pay full price for a terrible piercing job!! I do not recommend taking your children for piercings here.

I have been getting all three of my children's cuts here for years now and they are sincerely magicians at working with my kids, ages 2,3, and 5! They are so patient and kind (with such squirly and emotional little ones), and I always love how adorable my kids look afterwards!
