I’ve been going to Curly Hair Extraordinaire for about four years now, and they do a great job every single time. I get compliments on my hair all the time and have literally heard people call me “the mom with the great hair.”

They’re amazing with curly hair and really know what they’re doing with cuts, color, and styling. I also take my kids here, and they always do a wonderful job with them too. Everyone is kind, patient, and clearly very skilled.

It’s one of those places where you just trust the outcome—you sit down knowing you’re going to leave happy. I can’t recommend them enough if you have curls.

Every stylist here Julia, Amirah, and Lexi have done my hair and I’ve been obsessed with the result every time. Not only are the stylist so kind but the environment feels welcoming. I have been going to this salon since 2021 (and have gotten cuts and color throughout the years). I have always had a positive experience. Julia (the owner) is all about empowering people and teaching them how to love their curls. She puts her heart into every service and genuinely cares about her work. I've only ever gone to get my hair done by Julia, but everyone there does fabulous work. Clients always look like they leave happy and confident.

The environment is welcoming of all people, is locally owned, and woman-owned. If you're on the fence about going, make an appointment! You'll love it there!

I came to Julia for a up do for prom and I was in love she did such an amazing job.

I booked a curly cut and partial highlights. I asked the stylist for a Platinum blonde highlight. Once my hair was finished I paid and left. I noticed that my hair was fully highlighted and was brass yellow/blonde. The top of my head was blotchy blond. When I put my hair up in a bun it was very streaky. I had to immediately go to another salon for color correction. They also advised it was a full highlight and was not done properly. I contacted this salon back and was told they will not do any refunds but will correct it. I don’t need a correction because I did it right away because it was that bad. I don’t recommend this business if you are doing anything more than a curly cut. These pictures were taken when I got into the car. This is freshly done + styled. I also think $250 is ridiculous for this.

Take this review with a grain of salt as I am writing it several months after my cut and I see now that the stylist who cut my hair is no longer at Curly Hair Extraordinaire.

It had been years since I had last been in a salon, as I had poor experiences with previous salons not knowing how to treat curly hair. I opted to have a family friend do my hair instead. This was great until I moved away.
However, I still wanted to find somewhere I could trust with my hair to help with routine maintenance and to promote healthy hair.
I found Curly Hair Extraordinaire after some research and seeing positive experiences online.
I booked an appointment which was advertised to be a 1 hour long session.

I let the stylist know that I really liked the shape of my hair and the length, but for the most part I just wanted it to be cleaned up and healthy.
I really felt like the stylist had their own idea of how they wanted my hair to be, without trying to understand what type of curls I actually had.
30 minutes in & $135 later I was rushed out the doors. I walked out with botched layers I did not ask for, and curls that resembled my true curl pattern on life support.

I think it perhaps may be a worse thing to be styled by someone who does have experience with curly hair and yet will still treat you as if you don’t know how to take care of your own hair than to be styled by someone with no curly hair experience at all.

This all being said, although Curly Hair Extraordinaire may have stylists more attuned to curly hair, it is so so so important that you still advocate for yourself and what you want!!

Writing this from the place of knowing that stylist no longer works there, I think the advice I’d give for the business in the future is to get to know your clients hair and their hair preferences, & create an open space for dialogue and learning.
I am sure other stylists here may be great and this is no shade to the business as a whole, just my experience.

I had a very disappointing experience with this curly hair salon. I originally made an appointment but needed to reschedule due to a conflict. Instead of canceling outright, I used their online booking system exactly as instructed and joined the waiting list for dates before and after my original appointment in order to keep my spot.

I waited for a while hoping for an updated appointment date, but instead I was charged their cancellation/rescheduling fee of $63 while I was still actively on the waiting list. When I contacted them, they claimed I was never on the waiting list even though I have multiple confirmation emails and receipts clearly showing that I was.

The customer service was also very unprofessional and snarky on the phone. Rather than taking accountability for the confusion and issues with their own system, they still tried to pressure me into booking another appointment after charging me.

Be careful booking here. Based on my experience, it felt more like they cared about collecting fees than actually helping customers.
