I wanted to share some candid feedback about my experience at Club Pilates Hazel Dell.

This studio is positioned as a premium offering, but the overall experience doesn’t consistently matched that expectation. The studio often feels uncomfortably hot for a fitness studio.

Cleanliness and maintenance have been ongoing concerns. Equipment cleanliness is inconsistent, several lightbulbs were burned out for over six months, and the restrooms are in need of a thorough deep clean. For a studio that markets itself as premium, these basic upkeep issues noticeably affect the experience.

From a programming standpoint, classes are very formulaic. Despite the thousands of possible Pilates exercises, most classes follow the same structure: roughly a 10-minute warm-up, a 10-minute cool-down, and limited variation in between. Over time, this becomes repetitive, especially for members looking to progress their practice.

For more advanced students, there are very few truly advanced classes offered, and limited instruction on advanced modifications within regular classes. Pilates is designed to be adaptable, but layered progressions are rarely demonstrated, making it difficult for experienced students to meaningfully challenge or advance their practice.

Class times are limited, particularly for people who work, and the studio was not open on New Year’s Day, unlike many other fitness studios. Class times are geared toward what appear to be retired people or stay at home moms. You won’t find a class before 9:00 AM.

Instructor engagement varies, but overall there has been minimal hands-on form correction or individualized adjustments, which many students expect in Pilates for both safety and effectiveness. There are also not enough instructors so you may have the same instructor for 5 classes in a row, also contributing to the monotony.

Instructors often encourage members to provide feedback on class structure and scheduling, but there isn’t a clear or accessible way to do that, hence sharing feedback here, in hopes it will be read.

There is real potential here. With improved cleanliness standards, more variety and progression within classes, better support for advanced students, and more class time offerings, this studio could better align with the premium experience it promotes.

I would never leave a bad review unless I felt it completely necessary but I had the worst experience at this club Pilates with Amy as the instructor. She felt completely disengaged and when giving critiques she seemed almost rude and condescending. The room was so dark I could barely tell what we were doing and her instructions were unclear. Again, I would never leave a bad review but this was just terrible and I’ll never take her class again or at this location.

Reformer Pilates and specifically Club Pilates changed my life and returned my mobility and FREEDOM after breaking my back. It has helped me more than $100,000 of physical therapy ever did. As a plus-sized woman, I am tremendously grateful for Hazel Dell's warm welcome. Never once did I feel shamed or judged by any employees or attendees. I love that there are women of all shapes, sizes, ages, and injuries there -- and all are made to feel like they belong there. We are all there just doing our own thing and nobody is really even looking at you. Everybody's focused on themselves in the mirror or are laying flat on their back on the reformer and looking up at the ceiling. The studio is modern, almost spa-like, smells great, and is relaxing. I call going to class "going to church." I feel calmly energized and happy and the world doesn't seem so mean when I come out of class. It's just as much a mental health hour as it is physical exercise. Also, Joseph Pilates was a freakin' genius, so if you are injured, there is nothing better out there for your wounded body. I love that Club Pilates' marketing features an older woman lifting up her grandchild overhead and another woman (you don't even get to see her face) out on a kayak. It is NOT about having a perfect body and a flat stomach; Club Pilates is all about functional fitness and having the strength and flexibility to be able to get out and do all the things you want to do in life. I find it inspiring to see older women with absolutely gorgeous postures, and that is for sure what you get with Pilates.

This was great until I moved up to the 1.5 level and could not get booked into any class (that fit my schedule outside of lunch time or rush hour). When I cancelled my unlimited pass without attending for several weeks, I was still charged and not given any credit whatsoever.

Had intro class and really loved it. It seems a bit expensive at $90 for 4 classes/month $160 for 8 times a month and unlimited over $200 monthly. If it was more affordable I'd definitely join. Great for people with injuries such as whiplash. I feel good after this type of exercise not in pain or exhausted.

They have a first time customer free class !! You have to go to the website to find the free class but what a steal! I didn't realize how much of a work out Pilates is - I'm glad I was able to use the first time class ti see what Pilates was about. The instructor was very easy to follow along with.

I just called AGAIN to this location (Hazel Dell) after my intro class which I took yesterday at their Camus location. I woman named Cathy eventually picked up the phone and what happened next feels unacceptable. Just in case she gave me an incorrect name in case I left a review this particular discussion took place with Cathy in Hazel Dell at 3:11PM on Monday, March 6th 2023.In Camus at the intro class I explained to the instructor, front desk staff and other staff health conditions/injuries I was dealing with such as joint hyper-mobility, I'd had previous Pilates PT and the therapist had come to the conclusion that I should work on a Cadillac to not overextend. I was used to a Cadillac Reformer, and unfortunately the Camus employees explained that they only have 1/2 of a Cadillac at Camus but a full Cadillac for private instruction in Hazel Dell. I explained I'd just gone through 2 endometriosis related surgeries within the past year and have joint hyper mobility, I was hoping to work with a trainer that has successfully worked with people with those conditions. They were all really kind and explained that someone (a trainer there) had been dealing with the same problem and would be a great fit for individual sessions on the Cadillac. Since nobody had gotten back to me I started calling the location in Hazel Dell. The person who finally picked up the phone was so incredibly disrespectful and rude, Cathy. When she answered I explained what had happened in Camus and what they recommended and I was hoping to schedule a private. She then goes on to LAUGH at me. Eventually I worked up the nerve to tell her it wasn't nice to laugh, why would you do that? She laughed AGAIN and said well I just think that's a violation of HIPPA. First off I have absolutely no control over what I was told. Secondly laughing at a women as she's trying to advocate for herself is horrendous. I've worked so hard to have a voice in my health journey. I asked if I could speak to someone else. She said it was just her. I explained with the laughing I didn't feel good or want to work with her, was there someone else I could speak with? She continued laughing, and said no, it was just her. I said I didn't feel this was working and I would call at a different time to hopefully talk to someone else. She laughed at that too, while trying to pull me back into the conversation but I just pointed out that she was STILL LAUGHING! I hung up.Don't go here if you want them to give 2 sh*tts about you. Also I spoke to a couple other Pilates places in Vancouver and Portland and they said they are not a real, true Pilates studio so maybe I dodged a bullet. I will be reporting "Cathy" to corporate. No woman should be made to feel belittled just for trying to take care of themselves.
