Oceana Branch Health Clinic offers a mix of experiences. However, pharmacy wait times were rough for another patient, who arrived at 11:25am and did not leave with a prescription until past 1:00pm. The pharmacists were kind and easy to talk to, but the long wait prevented a higher rating.
This review is specific to my PCM Jerry Gaut. He is new to Oceana so I was not familiar with him prior to this appointment. No other providers had openings so this my only option. I was hesitant but kept an open mind. He saw me promptly and was incredibly warm and kind. I had a slew of things I wanted to cover and I was shocked that he had reviewed my detailed history before we met. For each item I wanted to discuss with him, he was receptive and inquisitive. He asked appropriate, probing questions to fully understand before he provided me with his opinion or decision. He praised me for some health progress I’ve made and encouraged more. I requested a refill of one of my medications from my primary care provider, she wrote the prescription and responded with an email that she completed her part then it was up to me to have it sent to the correct pharmacy, since it was late I was not able to pick it up on the day requested; therefore, went today, waited less than 1 minute before my number was called. Excellent service through and through, BRAVO ZULU to the medical team!
The problem with Pharmacy wait time is Tricare no longer accepts outside prescriptions at their Tricare Prime pharmacies, only on base MTF's resulting in this overload. Write your elected officials and complain.
