About Norfolk Foot & Ankle Group
Norfolk Foot & Ankle Group is a medical practice that provides foot and ankle care to patients. While some patients have had positive experiences with the practice, others have reported issues with the office staff and communication. Some patients have praised the knowledge and professionalism of certain doctors, such as Dr. Shouldis and Dr. Williams, who are able to explain treatment options and provide quality care. However, others have experienced difficulties with authorization and scheduling, leading to frustration and delays in treatment. The office staff has been criticized for not following up on authorizations and not communicating effectively with patients. Additionally, there have been issues with communication between the practice and external physical therapy providers, leading to confusion and stress for patients. Despite these challenges, some patients have reported positive experiences with the practice and its doctors.
So first visit was wonderful!! Dr shouldis was very knowledgeable. Office staff not so much. My daughter has had infected ingrown toe nails awaiting surgery. They have been infected for over six months. The nurse submitted for auth to our insurance but sent in no documentation. Which caused it to be denied. I called the office back as I use to be a medical biller myself. Spoke with Logan and explained she needed to appeal now and send everything at once. She did that and it was approved. They never called me to schedule the surgery. I called Thursday morning and spoke to Avon, who profusely apologized and assured me that Dr Shouldis would call me as soon as she was done...read full review
Dr Rabie is nice and explains everything well. I did not start pT next door to that location and instead went to Pivot closer to my home . Once the 15 visits are met , insurance requires progress notes and I had no idea they weren’t getting to the Dr office . Pivot states they don’t send frequent progress notes so communication has been the problem . If Norfolk foot and ankle had told me 1) we aren’t getting the notes 2) you need them or we can’t request additional PT referral extension . Norfolk foot and ankle in Norfolk primarily deal with the next door physical therapy practice and they automatically receive what they need. This communication needs to be addressed to the patient if they see an outside PT company . I wound up being so upset because I have I haven’t bounced back from this major foot operation and hiking /walking is something I did before so I am now; dealing with added stress /depression. I wish I had spoken with Ms .Calloway office manager earlier than get so upset being angry at the staff because she explained what the problem was and now I understand it . I wish I had known they weren’t receiving progress notes from Pivot or that pivot doesn’t just send them to the dr for the visits . I had previous orthopedic procedures through another orthopedics and everything was handled surgery and then PT so it was all within the same building
My husband Bobby and I love Dr. Williams. Our feet and toes do too!! She is always professional and personable. She is always direct and upfront with her diagnosis and recommendations. The staff is also friendly and always helpful.
