Gildersleeve starting with Deb are the most inefficient HVAC company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I hired them months ago because they were geothermal representatives. To date after all the money I have spent on them to just fix my four year old system it's still not fixed. They have misdiagnosed each repair which all had a 200.00 estimate for the repair. The last fix was the replacement of a TXV or Thermal Xpansion Valve replaced twice because the first one installed was defective or simply installed wrong in August. After calling Gildersleeve on December 26 letting them know I had no heat I was told by Deb the soonest they could get out there was 10 days later with yes the 200.00 estimate fee. I tried to voice my opinion as a single parent raising my two grandchildren and the fact that they were the last company to service my equipment in August, accomplished nothing regarding an emergency situation. I found another HVAC contractor recommended by another contractor who was not a geothermal professional to come and check out my system. Long story short it turns out that the TXV replaced by Chris with Gildersleeve in August has been leaking Freon since. I called and spoke with Deb on Friday afternoon only to be told she would have to talk to Chris before she could commit to anything. Went out of town for the coldest weekend we have experienced in awhile. I expected a call back this morning to schedule the fix. NOTHING, NOT A CALL NO CONCERN nothing! The most unprofessional service I have ever experienced in my life. These people should not be permitted to ACT as HVAC professionals. Sadly the more I looked into Gildersleeve's reputation, the more I realized that I never should have called them in the first place. I hope this helps anyone looking for a Geothermal contractor to choose ANYONE else because these people are just a let down and not worth your business. More to follow with an update of how long it takes these people to get back to me and fix my system.Sincerely. Larry

If you want professionals who understand the technology and can actually fix these systems, don't waste time with anyone else, call Gildersleeve! I had a problem with a geothermal system at my property. 5+ other companies couldn't fix the problem, but the team at Gildersleeve did. They are fast, helpful, & professional.

Hired them to repair my geothermal system that had electrical issues due to a power surge. They charged way too much ($1500 more) for a new fan in my unit because they knew it was going to be covered under our home owners insurance. I checked the part price with an HVAC family member and he verified they took great advantage of the situation.

Gildersleeve employs the most knowledgeable and well-trained techs in Hampton Roads. Many HVAC companies claim Geothermal systems are “difficult” and act like it’s a big deal to work on them but Gildersleeve knew every detail of my system and knew exactly what needed to be done. There was no “trial and error” or unnecessary labor charges. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it…and it was done correctly the first time! Very professional, polite, and excellent communication.Service: Geothermal services

We bought a house with their unit, and I have some concerns. I've reached out to them 3 times, left messages each time, and have yet to hear back from anyone. The days of begging a company to call you so you can be their customer are over. How disappointing and RUDE!!!

Very professional and knowledgeable company. Mr. Gildersleeve took the time to explain the geothermal product and installation process in great detail and patiently answered all my questions. The installation team was efficient and kept me informed throughout the week. I was very pleased with the results and highly recommend this company.

Technicians and expertise top-notch. However, be forewarned, if you pay for a year maintenance plan, Guildersleeve will not actually plan to do any maintenance. You will not be given any priority in booking and they will not make any allowances in their scheduling in anticipation for honoring the prepaid service.Guildersleeve will never contact you to schedule your prepaid maintenance.Customer must call. No call, no service. And unfortunately you, not being the professional and not being privy to the inner workings of the company and its scheduling demands, you must start calling months in advance… one or two or…?Regardless of how long the wait might be to get your prepaid maintenance, you will be held financially responsible for any system failures that result in the meantime, even if it’s due to untimely maintenance that you may have done your best to avoid. We used to get calls to schedule but they stopped without my knowing, and now it’s two months later than when my normal fall service should have been… and now I must wait another month for service. By then, we’ll be closer to spring than fall.I was reassured that the three month delay is inconsequential. However, last spring, I was told the same when I expressed the same concern over having to schedule maintenance two months out.My system did fail, and it was because it wasn’t maintained in a timely manner.I had to pay for the “emergency repair” (system flushing) and the tech would/could not do the complete service at the same time.Regular (overdue) maintenance had to be handled and charged as a separate visit. If money is collected in advance for a maintenance plan, then seems to me that there should be a system in place to honor and schedule all of those accounts. Emergencies should be accepted and worked around prepaying contractual customers—not the other way around.
