About Randall S. Peyton, MD
The surgeon has been practicing orthopaedics in Northern Virginia since 1995. He founded Arthritis & Sports in 1998 and serves as its President and CEO. Over two decades, he has helped thousands achieve pain‑free joint function and pioneered tissue‑sparing alternatives such as the anterior hip approach and partial knee replacement. Patients describe the staff as pleasant, patient and professional, very professional and very courteous. The surgeon has a great bedside manner, not rushed, focused on each patient. Many note quick processing of X‑rays and prompt discussion of results. Long wait times for surgery appointments at the local hospital were reported, but patients still recommend the practice for excellent, caring doctors and friendly, helpful staff. The surgeon explains and answers all questions, leaving patients very satisfied.
I had a pleasant visit with Dr. Payton. I was very impressed by his patient explanations and the level of detail he provided to make sure I understood everything, including all available options, what to expect after surgery, and when I would need surgery if it becomes necessary.
Dr. Peyton replaced a coworker’s knee, so I went to him with some trepidation that I would have the same treatment, that Dr. Peyton’s default treatment is a knee replacement. I WAS WRONG. We took x-rays. felt around my knee, and may reach a diagnosis that would not result in a knee replacement.
I only had my first appointment this morning, but the signs are very promising.
Dr. Peyton is this area's lead in orthopedic medicine. He has built a world-class organization, supporting every type of approach - surgical and non-surgical. Ten months after Dr. Peyton performed total hip replacement, I climbed a 20,000 ft mountain. He freed this old guy from pain and compromised mobility. Five years later, im still going strong.
