“In May of 2025 we returned from a trip to find our home flooded by a water leak. Our insurance carrier recommended Virginia Building Services to be the contractor to repair our home.

After the necessary cleanup and demolition was done, the estimation of the cost of the repair was started. VBS responded promptly in June 2025 with an estimate by Jay Schwab covering the repairs, but there were delays in the response of our insurance carrier that prevented repairs from starting.

We had some changes that we wished to make to our home. We worked with Derek Law from VBS to redesign our kitchen to increase counter space and add an island. Derek created a complete design which did everything we wanted to improve our kitchen. He also designed a cabinet/bookcase for the basement which included the granite from our original kitchen and used the last of the granite for a new countertop in the basement bath. His work was indispensable in the design process.

The VBS team of Jeff Austin, Tyler and Estefan were the primary workers who got the job done. Other subcontractors were used for electrical, plumbing and painting, and their skills and experience were evident in the quality of their work.

Starting at the beginning of February 2026 when Jeff was assigned to the project and materials were available, VBS completed the renovation by March 26, 2026, which was the date we told him the work had to be done. Without Jeff's leadership the renovation could have dragged on much longer.

The VBS team also saved us some of the cost of the renovation by suggesting changes that lowered the cost but maintained the quality of the renovation work.

We would give VBS a solid A- for their efforts. The downside in a big construction project like this turned out to be were the delays in getting materials and the delays in the rationalization of the two estimates between VBS and our insurance carrier.“

“F&S Building has completed 3 different jobs at my home. All 3 jobs were completed in a timely manner. We had a BIG addition and I mean BIG addition added to the back of our home. I didn't even get estimates on the other 2 jobs because I knew their work was outstanding and I would be treated with the upmost respect and no short cuts would be taken. The second job was removing 50 year old iron rail & about an 8 inch high concrete wall that held the rail around my basement steps. New concrete with rebar and rail placed and it looks beautiful! The third job was replacing about 40 feet of drain pipe under concrete in basement (old cast iron pipe, I guess) 90% stopped up from wash machine and kitchen. I wanted NEW pipe installed so they had to cut concrete floor. I actually placed clear plastic drop cloth myself to keep dust down before job was started. I am sure F&S would have done this but I am VERY picky, used staple gun and about 10,000 staples, it worked!! I had three different project managers and I had a ball working with them! However I really want to recognize Kent Clark as he was the gentleman that gave me the estimates and he was first class in every way. I called him Superman occasionally , you know Clark Kent, he just laughed!! Remember ONE thing, YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!!
