I was seeing another OB while I was looking into finding a midwife. I was so excited when I found out about West End Midwifery, and even more so that I could still deliver at Henricos. I switched over when I was about 27 weeks, and my first apt was with Leneka. I wish I would have been able to get in sooner, because it was a completely different experience. Leneka has been so kind and loving, I feel like I’ve known her for years. She never rushes me, and answers all my questions and makes me feel understood and comfortable. I have been nervous about trying to give birth unmedicated, but I can already tell I will have so much support from the midwife’s here. I will be meeting the other midwife’s over the remainder of my pregnancy, and feel so much more at ease as we reach the end of this. I will for sure be posting another review once baby arrives ❤️

I’m completely positive that if I hadn’t had Ashlie and Leneka as my midwives, my birth story would be SO wildly different. I went into labor at 2 AM, arrived to the hospital at 11AM 5 cm dilated, and thus started a very intense rest of the day - 18 total hours of labor, and I started pushing at around 4:30 PM and didn’t deliver until 10 PM. If I hadn’t had Ashlie & Leneka, I certainly would’ve gotten an epidural probably right when I got to the hospital and wouldn’t have had the power that I needed to push this big boy out! They constantly supported and encouraged me, reminding me of my desires that I had expressed before I went into labor to go natural. Ashlie and Leneka, and my doula Melanie, were SO in sync with each other all day long, and I truly felt like I had the ultimate birth team in the room with me. They had so many positions and techniques to try to advance things, instead of just laboring in one spot the whole day. When I thought I finally reached my limit and couldn’t go any farther, they had another tool in their toolbox to help me get through just a little bit more, until I made it to the end! 5 hours of pushing is no joke and I know with any other provider I would probably have had to have a C-section, given that he was so big and was taking his time coming out. I’m SO incredibly thankful for the birth experience that I was able to have and it is 100% because of Ashlie and Leneka and West End Midwifery. THANK YOU!

Stephenia was amazing and without her and the team I wouldn’t have had my successful vbac !! So grateful!
