About Fort Belvoir, VA Outpatient Clinic

The Fort Belvoir VA Outpatient Clinic provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans, with many positive aspects noted by patients. Over the years, patients have appreciated the quality of care from physicians and the wide range of specialists available at the clinic. The staff, including front desk receptionists, nurses, and doctors, generally offer great service. A particular highlight is the physical therapist, who is described as phenomenal—listening carefully, developing personalized plans, demonstrating exercises, and genuinely caring about clients’ well-being. Patients feel supported and well-cared-for during their treatments. However, the clinic faces challenges due to high demand. It is often overcrowded because many veterans from Northern Virginia prefer this location over the distant DC main hospital. While the care provided is good, the high volume causes delays and long wait times, which can impact the overall experience. The nearby Fredericksburg clinic offers additional options, but distance remains a concern for many. Patients also share positive experiences with their healthcare teams, highlighting the dedication of providers who accommodate telemedicine needs and support patients through difficult medical journeys. Support staff like social workers and program coordinators are praised for their professionalism, kindness, and responsiveness, often going beyond expectations to ensure veterans receive necessary care and assistance. Overall, the clinic’s staff and services are highly valued, despite the impact of high demand and limited space.

I am over the moon that I was able to get in at Fort Belvoir vs DCVAMC because the drive to the DC center is enough to send my PTSD into overdrive. I have had nothing but great service from the front desk receptionists to the nurses, the doctors. But can I take a moment to talk about the physical therapist? He is PHENOMENAL! He listens to your concerns. Develops a plan. Demonstrates the at -home exercises. And you can tell, he genuinely cares about his clients and their well-being. Hold on tight to this gem, FBVAMC!

this place is such hit or miss in every aspect.. the wait time could be 15 min, or 2+ hours.. the phlebotomists can be very friendly and efficient, or they can be very rude and incompetent. Again.. very hit or miss. If you get called to station number 4, it’s your lucky day. That lady is AMAZING. Wish I could take her with us when we move.

Care here is good, the trouble is it’s just too impacted. There are too many vets in Northern Virginia who are all trying to use this clinic. The VA just built a super clinic in Fredericksburg, but that’s too far and doesn’t alleviate the issue here. Nobody wants to drive in to the DC main hospital- it’s far and inconvenient, but the Ft Belvoir clinic is literally overrun. It will continue to be this way until the VA doubles the size or builds a stand-alone clinic somewhere else in Northern Virginia.
