“I have been training at Checkmat for 3 years now, and I absolutely love it here. I have met some of the kindest people I've ever known, and made stronger friendships than I could have imagined.<br>The instructors are incredibly patient. They invest so much time and effort into the kids, making sure they are able to train in a safe, and friendly environment. They genuinely care about the growth and development of each child or adult that trains at Checkmat. Each class challenges the child to learn different techniques and real skills they can apply during live rounds, in competition, or in emergencies.<br>Checkmat is also an extremely safe place for females to train, there are many skilled women who train here, along with Prof. Kellie, who is a certified black belt in BJJ, an excellent coach, and an amazing teacher.<br>After training and competing in BJJ this long, I have not only learned how to defend myself from harm, but I have also learned discipline, trust, humility, and love. But what I think is the most important thing I have learned, is to leave your ego at the door! :)”
