Terrible practice trying to make money through virtual appointment and charging for everything. Doctor is also very conservative. Stay away there are other premier providers in NOVA.

They missed my virtual appointment and blamed me, i was waiting i. The vritual room at 8:27 - 9:00 when they called and said yjey couldnt come to the appointment. I had to sit in the room for an hour while she ate food. They insulted me behind my back when they thought i couldn't hear them. Terrible service and quality.

I am writing this to warn patients about the complete lack of advocacy at this practice, specifically with Erika Thomas, FNP. After a systemic crisis involving small bowel thickening and a 9-year history of GI issues, I saw Erika twice as my PCP following my first ER trip. Despite an Iron Saturation of 7% (a critical low), she repeatedly insisted my iron was 'fine' because my Ferritin was 92. She failed to recognize that Ferritin is an acute phase reactant that masks deficiency during inflammation.
Most disappointing was the lack of support when I expressed my frustrations with the shortcomings of the GI office. Instead of helping me navigate a failing specialist path, I was told to take Vitamin D supplements and I eventually had to request that she 'hand off' my care to an ER for a THIRD visit just to obtain the ambulatory referral for a hematologist. That hematologist immediately diagnosed a severe iron deficiency and required an IV iron infusion to stabilize me. If you have complex, chronic issues, you cannot rely on this provider to be your advocate.

MONEY GRAB! Was just denied treatment when returning to get more testing done after being told I needed the testing done because I may have a brain tumor!!! Not to mention I came to there to help get help for treating injuries from a horrific car accident. Besides one visit cost nearly $600. The front desk is always incredibly rude and always on their phone!!! I did see one very good NP who was kind and helpful. If it weren’t for her I would have never returned after the initial visit. Oh and one more this I want to be clear that they denied me medical treatment for a possible brain tumor for not having $200 of a $600 bill paid! After already have multiple $600 visits fully paid!! They obviously care about only the money and not the patients!

I had a very disappointing experience at Virginia Family Medicine, mainly due to the behavior of a front desk staff member named Lisa . Her attitude was extremely unprofessional, rude, and lacking basic respect for patients. The way she communicated was harsh and dismissive, making an already stressful situation even worse. Patients deserve to be treated with kindness and professionalism, especially in a medical setting I am honestly surprised that someone with this kind of behavior is placed in a front-facing role. It reflects poorly on the clinic and takes away from the hard work and reputation of the doctors, including Dr. Milani. I strongly hope management addresses this issue, as it significantly impacts the patient experience. I had an appointment today at 10 AM to review my lab results. Unfortunately, my experience at the front desk was very upsetting. I was told I could not be seen due to an old balance from 2018, which I had never been notified about. I understand financial policies, but the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I have tried multiple times to contact Dr. Milani’s office to discuss this matter, but each time I was placed on hold and then disconnected. This is very frustrating, especially when I am trying to address both my medical care and billing concerns. I would like to bring attention to the behavior of the front desk staff member, Lisa, at the Leesburg office. Her communication and attitude were inappropriate and made an already stressful situation much worse. I respect Dr. Milani and the medical care provided, but experiences like this seriously affect patient trust. I kindly ask that this matter be reviewed and addressed

I had a disappointing experience with the billing practices at this clinic. I visited for an ear infection and was prescribed medication that didn’t work. When I called back because I was still in pain, they scheduled a follow-up call. Before agreeing, I specifically asked if I would be charged for another virtual visit because I had a similar issue with them in the past. I was concerned about being billed twice.
Unfortunately, when the bill arrived, I saw that I was charged again for the follow-up.
This has happened to me before with the same clinic. A few years ago, after a blood test, I was told the doctor needed to speak with me about my results and that they could not discuss it over the phone. I was worried something might be wrong, so I scheduled the appointment. It turned out to be a very short virtual visit where the doctor simply told me everything looked normal, and I was billed for that visit as well.
Patients deserve transparency about billing. If a follow-up visit will be charged separately, that should be clearly explained beforehand so patients can make an informed decision.

Extremely unprofessional staff and overall terrible experience.
Communication is a major issue — most of the staff struggle to speak English fluently, and those who do lack basic customer service skills. Every time I call, I’m placed on hold after nearly every question and have even been hung up on multiple times.
The billing department is completely disorganized. They have repeatedly billed the wrong insurance company, and despite addressing this issue several times both in person and over the phone, they continue to send incorrect charges. As a result, they have now blocked my account.
To make matters worse, I currently have an emergency and they are refusing to schedule me for an appointment. I requested to speak with the billing department and the office manager, and my calls were disconnected—twice. This level of incompetence and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I would not recommend this office

I booked a virtual visit with a provider here via Zocdoc, but never received a link. When I called the office to ask for the link, the person who answered my call said it was because they didn't have insurance on file. I told her I uploaded it twice, and she gave me attitude saying she could see that, but they have to go into my portal. Then she told me they don't schedule virtual appointments for new patients. I told her that I have multiple emails stating my appointment was virtual. She stated that isn't true, even though I can see it listed as virtual with my own eyes. She was very unpleasant and I will not be trying to book here again.

I tried to make an appointment with their chiropractor. I have Medicare Advantage through Humana. It's a PPO. He shows up in my portal as in network. Even if he is out of network it's a PPO. I'm allowed to go out of network. The office takes Humana. But they won't let me see him because they say he doesn't take Medicare. I just had my annual physical there today and they took the Humana. But, he doesn't? Is he affiliated with the practice? My providers their have asked me over the years if I've tried their chiropractor but every time I try to make an appointment they block me out. Even when I had the UHC PPO before I switched to Humana this year. They keep saying he doesn't take Medicare. IT'S NOT MEDICARE MORONS! All the reviews say he cares so much. He must not care THAT much if he doesn't know the difference between Medicare and Medicare Advantage - especially a PPO.

Unexpected Lab Bill from Quest Diagnostics and for annual visit
In addition to the charges from Virginia Family Medicine and Privia Health, I also received a separate bill from Quest Diagnostics for lab work. This is especially frustrating because I specifically requested that only preventive blood work be performed as part of my annual physical, which should be fully covered by insurance.
Inconsistent with Prior Preventive Care Experience
I have had annual checkups at other medical offices in the past and have never been charged for either the annual preventive visit or the routine blood work. This makes it clear that something was coded incorrectly or not processed as preventive care, despite my clear request and the nature of the visit.
Ongoing Lack of Resolution
Between the physician’s office, Privia Health billing, and now Quest, I am being bounced around with no one taking responsibility for correcting the coding or explaining why I am being charged. After multiple calls, portal messages, and follow-ups, I am still receiving bills for services that should have been covered. This reflects poor coordination, lack of transparency, and an unacceptable level of customer service for a healthcare provider and its billing partners.
