Posting this to share a recent experience related to billing and customer service, not clinical care.
I received a $5 bill in the mail and called the office with a simple question. Instead of a straightforward explanation, the conversation turned into an argument over five dollars, during which the person I spoke with made a dismissive, sarcastic remark, implying I was making a big deal out of $5.
Shortly after that call, I received a letter stating they would no longer see us as patients, and that any future care would require 100% payment upfront with reimbursement from insurance afterward. This was not discussed beforehand and felt like an extreme response to a basic billing inquiry.
Because of how this was handled, I’ve also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau so there is a formal record of the billing and customer service concerns.
The issue was never the amount — it was the lack of professionalism and respect. Patients should be able to ask billing questions without being talked down to or abruptly dismissed from a practice. I’d strongly recommend others clarify billing policies in advance.

Work was performed no price was provided upfront only a contract to sign now they’re trying to collect five dollars from us of which I dispute and it’s entirely the price should’ve been provided upfront they were paid from our insurance company and now they’re claiming it’s still a five dollar balance which is ridiculous and in my opinion the email that they sent me was pretty aggressive we will not return After all of this, I spoke directly with Rick, the office manager. During that conversation, he laughed and said, “lol, ha ha ha… you’re going through a lot of trouble over five dollars, my friend.” He then stated that he would “write off” the $5 charge so he “wouldn’t have to deal with me anymore.” The dismissive and mocking tone was shocking and unprofessional, especially considering that this entire issue stems from a charge that was never disclosed upfront. The problem was never about the amount—it was about transparency, consent, and being treated with basic respect.

Outstanding dental care—professional, caring, and knowledgeable team that makes you feel truly valued. I’ve been a patient for 20+ years my family and friends all have had great experiences. Hands down one of the best dental practices in town.
Dr. Hangval's team is the best.

2 years. I understand having a 48 hour call policy for cancellations, but I needed to cancel my appointment recently due to getting sick with the flu. My appointment was on a Tuesday, but I was feeling sick the Saturday prior to leading up to my appointment. By Sunday, I knew I definitely wasn’t feel well enough to make it to Tuesday and decided to get my flu testing done to be sure since I could not call this office on Sunday as they are closed (so clearly, I couldn’t make the 48 hour window regardless). I did not get my results back until Monday morning, where I gave a call to let them know I’d be cancelling my appointment the next day. They canceled with no problem, but then I receive a letter by Wednesday, the day after my original appointment pretty much stating if I ever cancel in the future I would be charged $85 per every 30 mins missed. Again, I understand cancellation policies, but I feel like it would’ve been appropriate to just let me know on the phone while I canceled what consequences I would receive in the future instead of a condescending (at best) letter, which came off more of a threat. I will not be returning to this office and I’m sad to state that because I have recommended this office to my own friends and family and they also will not be returning!

I recently had two crowns done by Dr. Maya Vexler at contemporary dentistry, and I am beyond happy with the results! The entire process was smooth and comfortable from start to finish. She took the time to ensure that the crowns not only fit perfectly but also matched the natural color of my teeth—so much so that no one can tell I have crowns at all! Her attention to detail and gentle approach made me feel completely at ease during the appointments. I’m truly impressed with the quality of her work and the care she put into every step. I can finally smile with confidence again, and I couldn’t recommend her enough!

My family has been getting great care here for about 10 years. Amy is the best hygienist in America. Richard and the office staff are patient, tenacious, professional, and detailed in dealing with insurance. I've been especially grateful for these qualities in years that our coverage changed and in years when a college-aged kid dealt with clinics whose staff lacked them. And I enjoy the music! Thanks for taking such good care of us.

I am new to the area and this practice was recommended. I move frequently for my job and had a chance to be seen by many doctors. Dr. Vexler did an exceptional job. She is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Also, Amy is a wonderful hygienist. Keep up the good work!

I had an excellent and professional cleaning and filling at Contemporary Dentistry. My hygenist Rose did a lovely job cleaning my teeth and Dr. Vexler provided me with a painless filling that feels perfectly natural in my mouth. I'd like to commend both for making me feel at home and relaxed throughout my appointment.
