Braids and parts are good quality, way too much gel used. And even when I asked for them to use less they wouldn’t and tried to bring my own they told me they couldn’t use it . I was told one price with complete transparency of what I was getting and the type of hair and when I got there she charged me $30 extra than we agreed bc it was French curl hair …. But she knew that beforehand bc she told me buy the hair. Entirely too much gel is used I literally had to wipe it out my scalp over the next few days bc it was squeezing out the braids. I loved getting braids here, have been twice and brought my mom. Was willing to deal w the extra gel and just wipe it off. But trying to scam me out an extra $30 bc the style took longer than you anticipated while completely pausing on me to braid a walk ins head made me not wanna come back anymore.

I arrived late, and Kia diligently attended to my daughter. She demonstrated patience and professionalism, ensuring all tasks were executed correctly. My daughter's hair turned out beautifully. We both are thoroughly pleased. It is evident that she genuinely cares about her work and her clients.

I had a really bad experience here. The appointment system is completely unreliable — I booked in advance but still had to wait a long time. The staff seemed uninterested and rushed through the work, which resulted in poor quality braids that didn’t even last long. On top of that, the pricing didn’t match the service at all. Totally disappointed with African hair braiding by kyah. Would not visit again.

I had an amazing experience with my braider! She was professional, punctual, and very welcoming from the moment I walked in. The parts were precise, and the braids were not too tight, which I really appreciated. She worked efficiently without rushing, and the final result exceeded my expectations. I’ve received so many compliments! I will definitely be returning and recommending her to others.

I called yesterday regarding a certain hairstyle that I wanted for my daughter. She then told me to send her a picture of the hairstyle to know if she can do it or not which I did. Hours later no response I called. She said she saw the text message and that she was busy and she hung up. Hours go by still no response so today I try to text and call her. My text messages was not going in and my call did not go in. She blocked me, ma’am If you couldn’t do the hairstyle all you had to say was I couldn’t do the hairstyle. She is very unprofessional and disrespectful and has a lack of communication. I don’t recommend this place.

This was one of if not the worst hair braiding salon that I’ve been to in VA. Where should I start..,
The owner, Kyah, was friendly when I first got there. After I started getting my hair done by one of her braiders (I’ll get to that in a second), she wasn’t so nice. I had been there 6 hours and only had the front of my hair done. I asked if I could possibly get two braiders on the back because at that point I was very tired and still had 3-4 hours to go. Her response was “No!” That’s it. No explanation as to why or why not. Never offered any assistance, no bottled water, chips or anything.
The braider that did my hair did a very lazy job. I asked to have waist length braids which I paid $260 for and ended up with mid back and the rest left unbraided. The braider kept messing with her phone throughout this whole ordeal. Then she took a break to go go eat. I noticed her licking her WHOLE hands (not just fingers) as she was finishing her meal. Very unsanitary!! She then proceeded to come back to work on my head and I asked her to go wash her hands. She said she did. I asked her did she wash with soap and water and she began to LAUGH! She then walked over to the hand sanitizer and again I had to ask her to go wash with soap and water. Her braiding style was not the neatest and she and I kept having to ask her to not braid so tight. It was excruciating! Also, don’t expect to come in to your appointment and get you hair done on time. I observed ladies coming in for appointments and waiting for hours to be seated. They overbook people which shows greed over quality work. They continued to have people coming in at 5-6 pm acting as if they would be next. They would ask them to have a seat in one of the chairs and leave them sitting there for long periods of time. I will say that I was fortunate to be taken as a walk in but honestly I wished that she would’ve turned me away. The braider that done my hair did not braid my hair all the way down as I asked and she parted my hair in the back in big parts. My hair is not what I asked for yet I still paid and stayed professional.
Their combs are nasty which they keep all of them together in a rolling cart. I brought my own combs as I always do when I visit braid shops. The braider tried to use one of those nasty combs on the ends of the braided hair but I stopped her dead in her tracks. If I ask you not to use anything on my hair than what I bring I expect you to follow those directives.
After she FINALLY finished my hair 8 hours later she didn’t say anything to me. She gathered her items and walked out of the door! The owner went running behind her but she never turned back. It was the rudest, and had the most unprofessional atmosphere! They only talk to their customers that they know. I felt so uncomfortable at this faculty and will NEVER RETURN! I would like a partial if not a whole refund because I had to come home and finish braiding my own hair to complete the look that I desired. If you are looking for a professional, clean, and warm hair braiding salon PLEASE SKIP OVER THIS ONE! I have been from NC, ST Louis, California, Arizona, and South Carolina getting braid styles and this is by far one of the worst ones! Pictures are posted! These pictures were the morning after visiting this salon. I had no idea that my hair was left loose this much because it was wet. Oh yes,,, when they dip it, they don’t even dry it with a towel! I had to ask the owner to dry it. The braider dipped it, took it out of the water and left me with hair dripping wet! Horrible, awful experience and now I’m stuck with this shall I add painful hair do! I also explained to the owner before I left that my scalp was burning and in excruciating pain from the tightness. She offered to put a warm wet towel on it but at that point I was ready to remove myself so I went home and done that myself. I wished I had bypassed this place!

Ms.Kyah is so sweet she scheduled me to come in the next day. She did a awesome job on my hair I have received so many compliments. I will be coming back you did this Ms.Kyah ❤️Thank you so much.
