Overall, ACAC Fitness & Wellness Downtown is considered one of the best gyms in the area, with its historic country club-like ambiance and modern touches.
Although it’s a bit pricey, it’s probably the best gym/fitness center around town (other than ones from the university). You can definitely get your money’s worth if you take advantage of everything they have to offer. Downtown location is nice. Staff is helpful and kind. Equipment is solid. Classes are enjoyable. I would recommend people to join.
After trying to make Planet Fitness work for a while, I stumbled upon this place. I've gone several times to 2 locations in CVille. Insane levels of quality. It's almost unbelievable. The downtown one feels like a historic country club, old-mahogany interior with modern touches and every amenity. Squash courts, space to be alone, every thing. The bathrooms and luxurious. Why is it so nice? It seems it would cost $200 a day to even get in. Pretty weird how it's $100 a month and all the locations are accessible. 5 locations in Charlottesville I believe. As if this city needed more luxurious amenities. I'll conclude with this: whoever chose Planet Fitness's interior color is the 180 degree opposite of who designed ACAC. You can't find a better place. It just oozes bliss.
Pretty nice. Pretty pricey but lots of nice things that most gyms don't have.Oddly they just got rid of their only Olympic barbell and now have zero Olympic barbells, despite having bumper plates for Olympic lifts.
