Based on reviews, Vanguard Arts Center is a new space in western Fairfax County for musicians of all ages and skill levels. It offers private music lessons, band rehearsals, and a fully equipped recording studio. An 8-year-old takes drums lessons and loves the vibes. The owner and teacher is a steady, encouraging force who knows how to work with kids and parents. Another reviewer started taking drum lessons as a 48-year-old and absolutely loves it, finding the teacher super knowledgeable, super patient, and super nice. The rehearsal space is great for a great price, with great people who set up all the needed equipment. One band had an INCREDIBLE recording session, tracking four songs and mixing two in six hours. The engineer was professional, friendly, inventive, creative, and willing to listen. The facility has high quality gear and a good sounding room. Everyone that works there is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Highly recommend for beginners and any artists in the area.
Their recent community festival was a blast to chat with everyone—vibrant personalities and an amazing welcoming energy. I’m not even a musician and it had me wanting to learn how to attend this place more. Will definitely be returning for the next festival!
Our 8 year old son take drums lessons and we love the vibes at Vanguard. Owner and teacher Ben is a steady, encouraging force and knows just how to work with kids and parents. Kanon is an amazing welcome to the arts center, helpful and kind. Highly recommend for beginners as they will welcome you with open arms.
Had an INCREDIBLE recording session there. Three piece band, Guitar/Bass/Drums and vocals. Ben was our main guy and did a phenomenal job. Professional, friendly, inventive, creative, understanding of our wants and needs, willing to listen, provided excellent feedback, let us make our own mistakes and then worked to help resolve them as best as possible. Everyone that works there is the same way. Did a six hour session and got four songs tracked, two mixed. Perfectly happy to pay for the extra time to get the other two mixed. Go there. Absolutely recommend to any artists in the area.
