I am deeply disappointed with the level of care at Burke Rehabilitation; if zero stars were an option, that is what they would receive. The facility's lack of responsiveness to basic patient needs is a systemic issue. Patients regularly wait between 35 minutes and a full hour after ringing the call bell, even for critical needs like restroom assistance. This environment is incredibly challenging for my grandmother, who is entirely immobile. Even when I walk out to locate a staff member myself, the delay persists, always excused by the claim that the assigned CNA is occupied. Furthermore, I was instructed that family members are not authorized to assist with her mobility. This policy, combined with their extreme delays, creates a hazardous situation for individuals with disabilities who cannot wait hours for aid. Another issue, my grandmother consistently asks for a shower, expressing a clear personal preference for more frequent bathing. However, we were told by staff that she is only scheduled for showers twice a week. She/we have noticed a distinct body odor during our visits. This leads us to believe that her daily hygiene is not being managed attentively on the days she does not receive a shower. Burke Healthcare must drastically improve its response times and attentivness to hygiene care to provide the safe and supportive environment they promise.
We are looking into other facility's. Avoid Burke Rehab like the plague if you care about your loved ones.

My experience at Burke Rehab has been stellar. The nurses are very responsive and kind. I especially want to thank the OT/PT staff who worked with me 5 days a week to determine my needs, set goals, and work to meet them My PT, Caroline Durzelle, helped me identify exercises to build my strength and improve my stamina. Also, Jennifer, my OT, worked with me on tasks such as doing laundry, improving my eye hand coordination and performing daily tasks at home. I highly recommend this facility. Mary (Cathy) Greener.

The physical therapist for Ms. Young was awesome. He worked with Ms. Young to do her therapy and then her took her outside where we sit in the cool breeze. He came back outside and found us in another area. He was concerned. He later came back to her room to make sure she was ok. She wanted to lay down so he put her back in her bed . Also the N.P. Mr. Amato was very thorough and concerned. This service was exceptional. I was really impressed. This care made me confident that my friend would get good care. Although I didn't want her to go to the Burke facility.

Burke Rehab there’s a wonderful setting for people transitioning out of the hospital and back into their homes as is the case with my father. The OT and PT staff did a great job bringing that muscle tone back so my father could get around the hallways. He loved going to the library and reading the newspaper. He also enjoyed taking walks around the facility with the PT staff or the OT staff. Having a consistent set up for meals, as well as good food that was healthy certainly contributed to his overall well-being and mental cognition.

I have had the opportunity to see this facility up close and I can say the staff genuinely care about the people and patients in their building. The nursing team responds quickly to issues and the rehab program is strong. Burke has come a long way and continues to get better.
