The surgeon was great, answered questions before and after my daughter's gallbladder surgery. When she experienced issues a month after her surgery follow up and called about it the surgeons nurse was extremely rude. I tried explaining it had been over a month since surgery and that she was still having constipation. The nurse interrupted me to state it had been close to 2 months since her surgery (not necessary as I had already stated it had been over a month). She then demanded to know what the issue was and I explained my Daughter was still experiencing constipation that we told the doctor about at her follow up. She interrupted me again and told me that according to his notes that we said there was no issues. When I pressed that we DID tell him about the constipation she then saw it in his notes. I then expressed me being uncomfortable with the way she was talking to me and insinuating that we were making this issue up to which she said "yeah". This attitude continued thru the remainder of the phone call with it ending with her going to tell the doctor our issue. When she called me back the attitude was gone but they insisted this was not an issue from surgery and my daughter would have to see her pcp or another doctor for an issue she didn't have prior to surgery! If my 13 year olds surgery hadn't been an emergency I would have definitely chosen lynchburg or roanoke.

I was referred to CMG Bedford General Surgery for a pilar cyst and saw Dr. Mclaughlin. He was very kind and explained what I had and the procedure that was to be done. The day of the procedure, I was a bit nervous, but he and the team put my mind at ease and it went pretty smoothly! The incision site is healing up nicely! Very pleased with him and the whole staff at the Bedford center!

Dr. Miller and one of his medical students performed my emergency laparoscopic appendectomy. I have rarely met a doctor who was more thorough, patient, and kind in his interactions with me. He explained each aspect of surgery and then visited me afterwards to show me images & explain them to me. He even called my emergency contact after the surgery to let them know it had gone well. I just had my one-week post-op appointment, and again he was very kind and thorough in his examination. He was very genuine, and I recommend anyone having surgery at Bedford if you’re looking for other options besides Lynchburg.
