Juls (Salt Lake Waxing Co) has been my esthetician for several years now. She’s professional and provides great service! Not to mention she’s a very kind person! I highly recommend her services!

I’ve been coming to Salt Lake Waxing Co for over 3 years now, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Juls is an absolute gem. She is so friendly and has a way of making you feel completely comfortable from the moment you walk in. We always have the best chats, which makes the time fly by. I had an underarm waxing appointment here and unfortunately had an uncomfortable experience.

When I arrived, there was no one in the studio and I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place. The technician came out from the back, asked “Danielle?”, and gave me a form to fill out without much greeting or explanation. It felt quite closed off and not very welcoming.

During the appointment, there was minimal communication or guidance. For example, I asked for a towel and was given a very small one, then the woman walked outside without saying anything else and after changing I wasn’t sure what I need to do next. The atmosphere felt very awkward.

The technician was not chatty, which I was fine with. However, during the wax she began asking a personal questions like “where are you from?”,“you’re not from Utah, right?”, “do you work?”, “did you come here for school or work?”,”how long have you been here” but then she responded with short responses like “oh okay”. This made me feel more like being questioned/a background check than a natural or friendly talk. She made a comment along the lines of “if someone has done Brazilian wax, I’m like why don’t they do underarms”, which felt unnecessary and judgmental.

In terms of the waxing itself, she only did one pass each underarm before I was told we were finished. There were still many visible stray hairs and noticeable stubble left, and no cleanup strips or tweezing. Because of how uncomfortable the interaction already felt, I didn’t feel comfortable to ask for additional cleanup at the moment.

The checkout process also felt unclear and awkward. Payment was accepted primarily via Apple Pay or Venmo, which was not communicated beforehand. When I asked if physical cards were accepted, her response made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. The interaction also felt rushed as she began cleaning up while I was still in the process of paying.

After the appointment, I went to another studio the same day for a touch-up. They were able to remove significantly more hair and explained that many of the remaining very short hairs had been broken off rather than removed from the root. Because of this, the area could not be fully corrected with wax, and even tweezing was limited due to the hairs being too short. This will also lead me to faster regrowth.

Overall, the experience felt rushed, incomplete, and not very welcoming. Personally, I cannot recommend the service here.
