Ana is hands down the best I’ve ever had for beard trimming and fades. Normally I’ve made appointments but today was a walk in and she wasn’t available for atleast an hour and I refused to let anyone else cut my hair other than her so I sat and waited until she had a spot open. Thank you Ana!!

Nate is not just a barber — he’s an artist. His level of experience really shows in every detail of his work. What impressed me the most is that he does everything with scissors only, no clippers, and the result is incredibly precise and natural.

I came in with three years of long hair and wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but he completely exceeded my expectations. He took the time to understand what would suit me best and delivered a clean, well-balanced style that still feels natural and easy to manage.

His attention to detail, technique, and professionalism really set him apart. You can tell he genuinely cares about his craft. I highly recommend Nate to anyone looking for a skilled barber who treats hair cutting like an art form.

I’ve had haircuts in several countries outside the U.S., and I can confidently say he’s the best I’ve ever experienced

Got an awesome haircut from Nate. The conversation was great and the haircut was one of the best I’ve had. 100% recommend.

Nate cut my hair on a Wednesday and I will most definitely be back. It was very unique experience. It felt good to decompress. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a barbershop Been able to decompress like this. I highly recommend this place

This review is specifically about one hairstylist,
Ana from Chicago, and not City Barbers as a whole.

    Before and after pictures shown.

And it’s taken me over 30 days to post this review because I didn’t want to do it in the heat of the moment

The owner was great to work with, and I saw several clients leave with excellent haircuts from other stylists. Unfortunately, my experience with Anna was the opposite.

Here is what went wrong. I was looking for a high-end cut and subtle color—something natural that would reduce how white my hair looks under video lighting. We discussed a “George Clooney” salt-and-pepper look. I was very clear: keep most of the gray, just add a small amount of darker tone for contrast. Not full color.

Before starting, she made a point to walk to the front of the chair to face me, looked straight at me and emphasized, “This is not a full color.” I confirmed that I did not want a full color..

However, when the color was applied, it looked like it was going on all my hair.. I questioned it again, and she reassured me it would be a “see-through” result where most of the gray would still show.

    That’s not what happened.

When she finished, my hair was fully orange. Not salt and pepper. Not subtle. Completely orange.

I asked why it looked like full coverage and why the color was so off. Instead of acknowledging the issue, she insisted it looked great and said it “took 10 years off.” She repeatedly denied it was full coverage, even though it clearly was.

She even took me outside into the sunlight to try and point out a small patch of gray—but it was just light reflection. At that point, it was clear she wasn’t going to take responsibility or offer a real solution.

To make matters worse, the haircut itself was uneven—one side longer than the other with a noticeable shelf.

I ended up leaving with one of the worst haircuts and color results I’ve ever had.

I sid call the Owner. To his credit, he stepped in, offered a full refund and had me come back to see Rachel, who specializes in color. Rachel did her best to correct the orange tone and even out the cut, and I appreciate the effort from both her and the owner.

That said, the damage was already done—my hair was left much shorter than intended and still noticeably orange. Even now, more than a month later, the color is off but the shock has worn off,

Bottom line: I would not trust Ana with either cutting or coloring. City Barbers has a much higher bar than what Ana offers.

If I were to review the owner or Rachel, it would be a 5 as they showed professionalism in trying to make things right.

Ana from Chicago delivers on every level. My haircut was clean and precise and she took the time to really understand what I wanted before picking up a single tool. The vibe was great too, friendly and professional. If you're looking for a barber you can trust to do it right every single time, Ana's your person. I'll definitely be back.

This place is heaven on earth!! It truly is the best damn haircut you will ever get. My barber today was Maddi J. and she is nothing short of an artist. What Van Gogh is to sunflowers and Picasso is to Cubism, Maddi is to haircuts. I absolutely loved her professionalism, kindness and pleasant conversation. If you are getting your hair cut anywhere else you are missing out. Will definitely be going back for all my barbering needs and have nothing but good things to say. Thank you Maddi!!
