I’ve been coming to Avenues Barber since 2019. The first time I walked in, Balbina was the one who cut my hair. She was kind, precise, and genuinely warm. I went back again in 2021, that time her son gave me the haircut. He did a great job too. And now, in 2025, I’m back in Salt Lake City and I knew exactly where I wanted to go. This time again, it was Balbina.
She’s now 70, but you’d never guess it from the way she works. She still brings the same quiet focus and steady hands. She takes her time, listens closely, and makes sure everything feels right. Not rushed, not transactional, just good work done with care.
They know what do with curly hair! Super friendly. For the first time in my life taught me how to truly clean all the residue and fuck from my hair (spoiler alert: it's baking soda).

I've been barely satisfied by my haircuts for the past decade, but got my first cut at Avenues Barber yesterday. Balbina did a fantastic job and this is the best haircut I may have ever gotten. $35 plus tip.
