I had a microdiscectomy on my L4, L5 on October 31st 2025. 3 months post op, I was still hurting, but now from the surgery itself. My Surgeon recommended that I go to Physical Therapy.
I started going to Back at Work, 3 times a week. After several weeks, I felt I was getting worse, and not better. I just finally accepted that this constant pain was going to be my new normal, and practically gave up all hope of getting better.
My Physical Therapist, Tara, did not give up on me. During one of my treatments, she discovered something with my back that my own Dr's had missed.
I had a big knot on the lower left side of my back, where my muscles were all drawn up. Tara took her massage gun and went to work treating that knot. At first, it hurt like hell, and then like magic, my pain in my lower back almost completely went away. In just that one treatment, I had less pain than I had in over 18 months.
As my treatments continued, Tara continued to work on that area of my back, visit after visit.
I gave up on myself, but Tara never stopped believing in me.
Today was my last treatment. I went from limping into my appointments to walking normal out the door today..
I will FOREVER be grateful for Tara and Back at Work. Theres no doubt in my mind, that if it wasnt for Tara, I would still be hurting today. She gave me the knowledge, and the training that I can take with me and continue to do my exercises at home. So Tara, if you ever see this.... THANK YOU!!
And I cant complete my review without mentioning Emily who runs the front desk. Emily took care of all the paperwork, all the phone calls, emails, and so so much more, and kept me updated. In my opinion, she is the heart of Back to Work. But mostly, Emily is just a great human being. So Emily, if you ever see this... THANK YOU!
So in conclusion, if you are ever in need of physical therapy, go see Tara and Emily at Back to Work. You owe it to yourself, to your body, and your well being to go somewhere that TRULY CARES about you and your well being.“

I started at a different PT clinic that wasn’t cutting it. Was referred to Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine about 6 weeks post op. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have almost full use of my shoulder and no pain. Ryan, Courtney, and Alan have been amazing! Most of the time I have Ryan and Courtney. Both of them are very knowledgeable and have great attitudes. They have worked diligently to get my shoulder working again. Unfortunately for me before I started PT here scar tissue formed very quickly creating frozen shoulder. So it’s been quite challenging. All the staff has been supportive, welcoming, professional, and encouraging. I have been grateful for the straightforward approach on where I am at versus where I need to be. Having a medical professional be honest because they genuinely care about your recovery/quality of life is refreshing. I believe everyone here wants the best for each patient. From the therapists themselves to the front desk staff; everyone has been fantastic! While my recovery is not over I have complete faith in this team to get my shoulder back to 100%. On a different note I highly recommend dry needling. It helps out so much! They also have brought in some new tech called stemwave. I appreciate their efforts to bring the best options to help their patients through PT.“
