Carlos doesn’t just cut hair, he sets the standard. From the second you sit in his chair, you can tell he actually cares about the craft. Clean fades, sharp lines, and attention to detail that most barbers don’t even come close to. He listens to what you want, but also knows when to step in and make it better. I’m not a guy that typically leaves reviews. If I like a place, I’ll spread the word. If not, I won’t be back. This is different.
I was recommended this place because a friend of mine goes here regularly. I decided to leave my barber of 9 years at Supercuts to try something different, hoping I would get an experience and a cut that I genuinely enjoyed. I got neither. I grew my hair out intentionally to leave a template for whoever cut my hair and Carlos did in fact ruin that special moment.
I asked him to just clean up the sides originally. He only trimmed around my ears while not touching the rest of the sides or top and made me look like I had a cotton ball on my head. I said I wanted more cut off on the sides because I wasn’t walking out like that, so he said I’ll be charged for 2 haircuts. I had to agree so he would continued cutting, but that is completely unacceptable. I was looking for more of a business casual look and showed him a picture of what I wanted. He said alright, and continued cutting. By the time he finished, he cut way too far up on the back sides leaving weird curve on the side. All that needed was a scissors clip in the front to even out the curve, but it took me 4 times to tell him to do that. The first and second time I asked, he ended up cutting more in the back where it was already too short.
After I finally got him to understand what I asked, I paid and realized he charged me twice for a cut and shampoo instead of just another cut. I wasn’t offered the second, and I’m not sure if it’s their policy but they washed my hair before they got started (my hair was already clean), so I ended up walking out with hair all over my face, got it in my car and clothes, and had to drive back to Temple where I live to get it washed out. If I knew it would be like that, I would have not gotten the shampoo.
Don’t get me wrong, Carlos is a good conversationalist, but his understanding and ethics are terrible. I got taken advantage of and very upset.

My almost 13 year old is very picky about his haircuts and Joel did fantastic! We were able to get a same day appointment, it was quick, Joel was awesome and we will definitely be back! Bonus - they were open on Mondays when most other shops are closed!
