“This is a long story.
Winter of 2007, I was 9 years old. My mom was in prison in Gatesville at the time. My aunt and my grandmother were driving back to Longview, Texas that evening, fairly late, but we weren't going to stay down there.
We pull up to a light in Waco, and our car breaks down. Engine isn't turning over, no lights, not a thing. Naturally, when the adults are panicking, I start to panic. I'm hours from home, it's the middle of the night, and I don't know what's going on, so I started bawling my eyes out. I look out the window to the right, and I make eye contact with a woman having her hair done at, of all places, Braids & Fades. She saw that I was scared, and soon enough nearly everyone in the shop was outside, helping us try to get the car started, and eventually got it pushed into a neighboring parking lot. Throughout the evening, as we waited for my uncle to get there, they would come to check on us and see if we needed anything.
Point of this story is that what happened then still matters to me. Not because of the situation itself, but what it taught me. All of the people there that evening jumped to help with nothing in return, without knowing the circumstances, because it was the right thing to do. I'm probably the only person in the world that remembers this, but it's hard to forget that.“

“Love the atmosphere, they are women helping women look their best one hair appt at a time. Appts are easy to attain and front desk personnel is helpful. My stylist is Teresa Bond she one is funny vibrant woman. She has repaired my hair back to health from being chemically torched and looking like a peacock from the last person that did it. She took her time and with her patience was able to get me to a color i had been looking for. We are now 4 years strong, and wouldnt change things as she would knows my hair more than anyone. I know have back my long healthy locks of hair i was was missing some yeats back. Thanks Teresa!“

It is open and pleasant and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I see Vanessa for my pedicures. She specializes in hard to care for feet. I have diabetic feet prone to ingrown nails and Vanessa takes those out. My feet feel so good when I leave there. The clients I see leaving the salon having had hair and/or nails done look lovely.“

“I cannot say enough amazing things about Katie G. and the work she did on my hair. I came to her with previously damaged hair and a Pinterest inspiration picture, and she absolutely NAILED IT. I honestly didn’t even expect to get as light as we did in one session, but she went above and beyond to make it happen.

She spent the entire day meticulously working through my hair, paying attention to every little detail. I later realized she even skipped her own lunch just to make sure I was taken care of the whole time. That level of dedication is rare and speaks volumes about how much she truly cares about her clients.

I’ve had some really bad experiences in the past trying to achieve this same inspiration look, so I was nervous—but during our consultation, I had a gut feeling she could do it. She was honest from the start, realistic about expectations, and transparent about what the process would look like, which I really appreciated.

Not only is Katie incredible, but the entire team of women there were so welcoming, helpful, and kind. I had the chance to meet the owner and absolutely loved the vibe of the shop—it’s such a great environment. And one of the other stylists (I believe her name was Yosellin) was so quick to help at the rinsing bowl and was incredibly sweet. You can tell the whole team truly works together and cares about the client experience.

I couldn’t be happier with my results. Katie has 100% gained a client for life—I genuinely won’t let another stylist touch my hair again. And honestly, even if we hadn’t achieved the results we did, I would still choose her every time because her personality is just that incredible. She’s empathetic, passionate, and truly cares about her clients, and it shows in everything she does.
