Fort Sam Houston Golf Course

Giving it a 5 Star because of the service and prices for golf and products in pro shop. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to play but the course didn't look in good shape from what I saw. A day on the course is better than a day at work. Also, the entrance for the course is not on base. But the course is.

Course was challenging, plenty of trees, a few water hazards with several challenging hills. The traps had very little sand and were not kept really well. Several bare patches alongside the fairways made chipping from the dirt unpleasant. No bear cart?? Golf and beer…. No cart was disappointing. Fairways and greens were fine, great value for 18 holes + cart.

This is the course I've played most frequently since I moved to San Antonio. It isn't the "nicest" course in the area (in my opinion that is The Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio) but is good value and usually in decent condition. There are two 18 hole tracks, my preference is Salado as it's more unique in it's design. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all skill levels.
