I truly have always hated working out and getting all sweaty and gross but Pilates has changed that for me! The studio is usually pretty chilly which is great because as soon as you get warmed up it feels amazing and I can usually go right to work after! I love that you get a full body stretch and work out, it’s like yoga but more strength building. I always feel just the right amount of challenged and the instructors are so helpful and nice, I’m not sure I could pick a favorite. Something to be aware of however is the studios $10 cancellation fee if you can’t make it without 12 hours notice which is totally fair but I have chronic back pain that flares up randomly...read full review
I decided to take an intro class after seeing an Instagram ad, like the internet knew I needed to try something new. I’m hooked. Pilates has made me feel strong and in tune with my body. Also, the membership and scheduling scheme is great for my busy week.
As a senior, I prefer the Core and Balance class, although I think they should call it the Reformer Stretch class. They don't make you stand on one foot or do crunches. Just had a great, mellow stretching class (whoops, I mean Core and Balance) with Marianna. All the women walking out of her class we talking about how great she was. For Core and Balance, they have low, mellow music (so I can hear the instructor), and nicely dimmed lights, so it's a very relaxing environment.I also sometimes do the Pilates 1.0, which I can manage, if I really want to work on muscle strength. 1.5 is about my limit at 65 years old.
