Mark runs a great company. All of the employees are amazing. They are so friendly, very professional, trustworthy and very good at what they do. After contacting them, they came out the next day. They figured out my issue immediately and created a plan to get the problem solved (duct work issue and design). They have great communication before, during and after they visit. I love many things about this company, starting with a live person answers the phone right away. Their technicians are thorough and professional. On our most recent service call Willie rearranged his schedule to return later in the day after the outside units after they had warmed up. That’s going the extra mile.
A few weeks ago, my family came back from a trip to discover one of our two AC Systems (one system for upstairs and another for downstairs, both Goodman / Amana Heat Pumps) was not working. After some trouble shooting, we determined that it was likely a bad compressor which would’ve been thousands ($$$s) to replace. Given that our two systems were installed back in March 2007 and have had a decent 15+ year run, we decided to replace both. Not expecting to have to replace our AC this year, I began researching options. I quickly decided that we would go with a full-variable system from either Carrier / Bryant, Trane / American Standard, or Lennox. These brands were the highest rated, had good warranties, and offered top-end, highest-efficiency (20+ SEER) system to match our recent investment in Solar. I then requested about 10 bids from different Austin-area HVAC Contractors that had high ratings (> 4.5 star) on Yelp / Google reviews. The proposals came back with slightly different scopes and a wide range of prices. I created a superset of scope and narrowed down to four contractors. The final four contractors all impressed me with their knowledge, skills, attitude, experience, and professionalism. I asked them all to update their proposal based on the same scope. In the end, I selected The Coolest, LLC, which is owned and operated by Mark Legare. The Coolest agreed to do everything I needed (rebuilding plenums, addressing some duct work, adding dampers, installing & configuring full-variable Carrier Infinity Greenspeed 3-ton and 4-ton systems with AprilAire filtration and REME HALO LED purification. After selecting The Coolest and signing the contracts, Mark went to work in procuring the equipment (no small task in today’s supply-constrained world). Within a matter of a few days, Mark texted me with good news, he was able to get all the components we wanted without compromise and scheduled installation for early the following week. The installation was a marathon and not a sprint. The Coolest’s Installation Team of Rigo and Cole were outstanding! Both guys were very knowledgeable, amazingly courteous, respectful and some of the hardest working HVAC installers I’ve ever come across. The team focused on our non-working unit (located in our attic) first and took a solid three-ten long-days to carefully remove the old system, address new work items + cleanup, and install the new system. Their methodical approach resulted in a first-time-right working system that just purrs. Next, they moved onto the second system, which took about a day-and-a-half. No surprise, but another first-time-right working system that also purrs. The results of our HVAC replacement are a work of art. The old installation was functional but a hodge-podge of wires, non-ideal duct runs, plumbing hacks, etc. The new installation is worthy of a museum display and is truly a work of art!
