Interesting, outstanding organization...an asset to Austin
Reviews
CCV is a vibrant group of elderly people in Austin and is part of the nation-wide Villages movement. The villages commit to providing services for their members so that they can remain in their own homes as they age. The volunteers who provide these services can be younger people or social work students and interns, but they also include many of the more spry older members. Services include yardwork, cleaning gutters, driving people to appointments, minor home repairs, etc., as well as providing a varied and interestinng social life, including talks by members, group visits to concerts, gatherings for coffee and dominos, a book club, etc., etc. It is a great organisation!
I have been a member of CCV for several years now and have been really happy to take part in this excellent organization. They provide reliable social get-togethers, trustworthy recommendations of local repairmen and services, and good outlets for seniors who want to volunteer various sorts of help within CCV and in our community.
In these troubled political times, it is important to strengthen and participate in small, voluntary organizations like CCV that in many ways provide a safety net for ourselves and neighbors in need.
