Dr Gregg Farmer is the best. We took our 12 year old cat Bogie to a vet that was located closer to our home bc he was losing a lot of weight. They did all sorts of tests and removed some bad teeth but he didn’t improve. Took him to Dr Farmer for second opinion and found out he was diabetic and had thyroid issues. We changed his diet per Dr Farmers instructions and out him on thyroid meds and he’s now back and healthy running up and down the hallway again. The other vets office charged me a lot of money for tests (and retesting) which they did “in house” but they never recommended anything or said blood results showed any problems. They didn’t really know what the problem was and said “we will just keep monitoring”
Our family has been going to Dr Farmer for years- he’s a super vet - really really knows the science of animals and animal medicine -we tried new vets after a move but we will be staying with Dr Farmer going forward. Highly recommend him.
November 2025 update! Dr F is back in Austin and we are so grateful. Our older cat has special needs - diabetic , thyroid, blindness from detached retina, and sometimes recurring sinus bacterial infections and Dr Gregg Farmer and his team at the Animal Medical Center of Austin has been right there to give us great veterinary advice expertise and guidance. Our goal is to keep our cat happy and comfortable as long as possible. He’s doing really great and is happy and enjoying his little cat life with our family. We couldn’t do this without Dr Farmer’s years of veterinary practical excellent experience. Truly the best vet we have ever been to. Highly recommended.

I’ve gone to the Farmers for years and they are both amazing. They were there as I was losing my elderly cats and they’ve helped me take care of my new kitten needing some extra care. The remodel on the office is amazing now with cat specific rooms. Even down to the front desk coordinator is lovely and on top of everything.

It was easy to schedule online for multiple cats. Husband took our 3 cats in and had really great things to say about Dr Gregg and the team. The office is very close to our home so it’s a relief to find a vet we all like (including two formerly feral kitties).

I just moved to Austin and it was important for me to find the best care for my little 7 year old chihuahua mix, Benji. I happened to find Animal Medical Center (and their high ratings) on Google and am so thankful I did! Dr. Farmer and the two ladies who helped me (at the desk and the tech) were so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming!
Wait time - less than 10 minutes. Cleanliness - immaculate. A staff that agrees my dog is too cute for his own good - priceless.
It's such a relief to know Benji will always have great care just a few minutes away from home in Austin!

Unfortunately, my experience with Austin Medical Center of Austin has been at the end of two of my pet's lives. Despite only having heart-rending experiences, I cannot speak about them highly enough for the empathy and kindness shown on both occasions. Nothing was rushed. Everything was done with such tenderness and compassion. I highly recommend this group!

The staff and doctor was absolutely amazing. We had to put our beloved fur baby down due to cancer, which was gut wrenching. They were very understanding, kind and considerate of the pain I was going through. They are absolutely amazing and if you need to trust someone with your baby.... I recommend this place completely.

Even though the office is hard to get to for us. We really appreciate the care Dr. Castillo takes with our fur-baby. She always takes her time at each appointment and it's clear that she loves what she's doing. She also manages to call us when needed and responds in a timely manner. Thanks for your care!
