A special shout out to Ms. Benavidez a financial representative at Hendrick. I believe God puts people in your path for a purpose. Unfortunately, my son recently lost medical coverage under my plan and is being treated for a medical condition. She was a blessings. She literally walked us through all the necessary procedures to obtain assistance. I will forever be grateful to Ms. Benavidez! She is the epitome of an excellent and diligent customer service representative and Hendrick Health is fortunate to have her.

I would like to recognize John from Food and Nutrition Services at Hendrick South. During my mother’s stay between June 15-June 21, 2026. John consistently provided exceptional service. He was always kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. One day he even went downstairs to get her coffee and liquid creamer. Every time he entered the room, he was cheerful, helpful, and genuinely caring. His kindness made a difficult hospital stay much easier for my mother and our family. Please let him know how much we appreciate his outstanding service.

This ER has no doctors just nurse practitioners who have no clue on how to address the issue or even listen

Me and my family were treated unfairly at this hospital. They don't even let visitors borrow a pillow to go to sleep. They're rude. Very unprofessional. After my mother gets out of the hospital we will never be back ever.

Don’t go here. It’s horrible. I promise you’re better off at any of the other 2 emergency rooms. The er doctor was not busy. I was the only patient. He refused to even check me or bother with me cause I have no primary care dr atm. He was rude. Treated me like I was nothing. Even with ins. He never touched or checked or anything. Just dismissed me without anything. Not professional. I will never go back.

Recently had to go to Hendrick South because I messed up my knee and the nurse that took care of me on Friday morning was absolutely rude and horrible. Tried to discharge me before the doctor even came in and told me what was going on. I asked to talk to the doctor after I had x-rays and test done and he wanted my knee wrapped and for me to stay off my leg until I could get into my primary care provider, which the nurse never even wanted to ask him About they are uncaring in the worst hospital, and I wish that Abilene would allow another hospital in this area because I will be great driving to Sweetwater Brownwood, or somewhere else that has a hospital not related to Hendrix even in an emergency I will refuse to go to that hospital

The care from the staff on the floor in the ER, was good, but the nurse that called me back to get you vitals and ask you questions before I went to a room in the ER was kinda rude. Like she would ask me stuff in then interrupt me from talking. So why even ask why I was there if you didn't want to hear it! If she doesn't like her job. Maybe it is time for you to quit, can not work in the health field if you don't care!

In the event of a non-urgent medical emergency, I highly recommend seeking treatment at Express Emergency. Three days ago, I experienced a series of concerning symptoms, including disorientation and a lack of coordination. I visited Hendrick Medical Center South Side for evaluation. Despite undergoing various tests, all results were negative. Upon consulting with Dr. Travis McKenzie, I expressed my concerns about my symptoms and lack of appetite. However, Dr. McKenzie dismissed my concerns, implying that all medical professionals should be able to handle such situations. On Tuesday, I was unable to attend work due to persistent discomfort and a developing fever. I remained home and took over-the-counter medications, but there was no improvement by Wednesday. My symptoms worsened, prompting me to consider taking more medication. However, I was aware that I was not adequately hydrated and needed fluids. Due to my inability to return to the hospital, I refrained from visiting my primary care physician, as they would likely refer me to the emergency room, which I was hesitant to visit due to my concerns about the lack of immediate treatment options. Despite my efforts to work, I appeared unwell and struggled to complete my tasks. Upon returning home, I sought refuge on the couch, feeling as though my body was shutting down. This experience serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of seeking medical attention promptly when experiencing severe symptoms. On the day of my hospitalization, I presented with a fever, chills, and a sensation of impending collapse. I felt as though I needed sweets, but I was unable to eat. My sense of smell was impaired, and I was unable to perform any tasks. Fortunately, I work in a clinic, where my physician assistant promptly assessed my condition and took my vital signs. I narrowly avoided a serious medical emergency when I was admitted to the hospital. My physician assistant (PA) noticed my heart rate was unusually high at 120 beats per minute and immediately contacted my supervisor. The supervisor advised me to either go home or go to the hospital. However, my PA suggested that I go to urgent care instead. Fortunately, I was close enough to express Emergency, which is a well-known and reputable emergency room. Express Emergency took approximately 30 to 45 minutes to see me. During my visit, they administered necessary medications and treatments to stabilize my condition. They gave me a tour of the steroid, antibiotic, and IV fluids to help my body recover. They also provided me with Tylenol to alleviate my fever and high heart rate. After about 30 minutes of rest, my pain level decreased significantly. It dropped to five on a scale of ten. After one hour, I felt a sense of relief and a renewed sense of vitality. I regret not seeking medical attention sooner, as I could have potentially suffered serious consequences. I believe that Hendrick Medical Center’s emergency room needs to improve its communication and patient care. While my tests showed normal results, my PA and I were able to discern that my body was not functioning properly. It is crucial for medical professionals to listen to their patients and prioritize their well-being. If my PA had not intervened, I could have faced a life-threatening situation. I strongly urge Hendrick Medical Center to address these issues and ensure that their emergency room staff is adequately trained to handle such situations. It is essential for medical professionals to prioritize patient safety and make informed decisions based on their patients’ symptoms and medical history.
