I had brain surgery to remove a tumor, and the surgery left me with severe cognitive and visual impairments. Prior to meeting Dr. Durocher, I visited two optometrists, and both gave me the same response: “It is what it is—you’ll just have to live with it.”

If my cancer journey has taught me anything, it’s that there is always a solution, you just have to be relentless in your search for it. I knew that response wasn’t good enough for me, so I kept looking and found Dr. Durocher.

From our first meeting, he provided not only optimism, but also experience, compassion, and a clear plan. He prescribed prism glasses designed to improve my vision—something no one else had even suggested. At my first follow-up appointment three months later, he was able to show a 15% improvement in my vision based on objective test results.

My next appointment with Dr. Durocher is in May, and I have full faith that we will continue to see progress. Thank you, Dr. Durocher, for your optimism, compassion, and expertise.

A two hour 15 minute appointment is not acceptable. Two many handoffs between staff without clear continuity. Was told I would have my eyes dilated for test. It never occurred and after that length of time I was not reminding anyone.

I had a very frustrating experience at this office, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. My appointment was on October 3rd for new contacts. I’ve been wearing glasses for years and was excited to make the switch. After my appointment, I was told my trial lenses were ordered and that I would be contacted when they arrived.

By November 14th, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I reached out to follow up. I requested my prescription so I could take it elsewhere, as it seemed like there was a lack of communication. Reina informed me that my contacts had been on backorder, so she ‘resubmitted the order’ with an ETA of the following week. She also explained that, because I’m a first-time contact wearer, I would need to complete their in-office training before they could release my prescription.

Fast forward to December 2nd—after still not receiving any updates—I called again, this time asking to speak to the office manager. TJ at the front desk listened to my concerns, immediately sent over my prescription, and left a note for the manager. While TJ was helpful, this level of service should have happened much sooner.

At this point, I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere. My boyfriend recently visited Vision 1st Nashville to see Dr. Hoover and had an incredible experience. Not only did he receive his contacts promptly, but they also sent him a handwritten thank-you note.

I wish my experience here had been better, but unfortunately, the lack of communication, delays, and inconsistent service were too much to overlook. This place was a waste of money & my time.

I can’t say enough about the BellMeade location. The staff and the doctor were nothing short of amazing. My daughter was in a horrible atv accident (we are so blessed that God saved her), she has a tbi, concussion, contusion and hemotomea to both her head and eye. Dr. D took the time explaining things, showing what her looks like now what she can and can’t see, we had lots of testing, he was patient and also told us stories about him being involved in two race car accidents back to back years. After everything was done Dr. D said his/our goal with the correct glasses and therapy needed it will take time to get my daughter back to normal. I told him we have plenty of time to get her whatever we need to get her 100% back. So listen to your Mama instinct like I did to find the right doctor and therapy place. I would recommend anyone with an eye injury to go and see him. He is an amazing doctor. We drove 1.5 to get to him.
