About Family Medicine West of Knoxville
Family Medicine West of Knoxville is a medical practice that has received mixed reviews from its patients. While the providers, including Dr. Manisha Thakur, are highly praised for their thorough, compassionate, and attentive care, the office staff and administrative processes have been a source of frustration for some patients. Patients have reported that the providers at Family Medicine West take the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and provide the support and answers they need. The nursing staff, such as Michelle Jones, RN, are also described as kind, comforting, and attentive. However, the office staff have been criticized for making it difficult to schedule appointments and causing long wait times on the phone. There have also been issues with the patient portal, referrals, and medication management, with patients reporting delays and frustrations. Despite these administrative challenges, the overall consensus is that the medical care provided by the practice is exceptional. Patients who have been with the practice for many years express hope that the office can improve its administrative processes and retain its high-quality providers.
I’m new to Knoxville and had my first appointment with Dr. Manisha Thakur today— and I can honestly say it was the most thorough, validating experience I’ve ever had with a physician. Dr. Thakur spent more time with me than any doctor ever has, listening carefully and asking thoughtful, compassionate questions. I’ve been dealing with some physical effects of chronic stress, and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m going to get real answers and support. Her calm, inquisitive nature and genuine care were incredibly reassuring.

The providers at Family Medicine West are phenomenal! Their office staff however make it very difficult to schedule an appointment and see a provider. I've been put on hold for over 20 minutes before I just gave up. They've been my PCPs for over 10 years but I think I'll have to look elsewhere for my medical care. It's a shame because the care I've received there has been top notch.
After witnessing the lack of care, the lack of return calls, the snide, condescending attitudes from the staff was enough for us to start looking at new health care providers. The front desk staff are too concerned with their personal conversations to actually care what is happening around them. NOW I know why the wait room has no patients waiting!!!
