We brought our new kitten Anzi here the day after Christmas because she was very lethargic and had a swollen stomach. We had a 10:00 AM appointment and arrived early with a stool sample as requested. We were taken back very quickly, which we appreciated.
The doctor examined her and ordered X-rays, then told us he believed she likely had FIP and was going to withdraw abdominal fluid and send it to the lab. He also mentioned results might be delayed due to the holidays. What we were NOT told ahead of time was the cost of this procedure or that the visit would total $879. At checkout we were shocked to learn that just the fluid withdrawal and lab testing was $400 of that bill.
After we got home, the puncture site leaked fluid constantly for several hours. By late afternoon Anzi could barely walk, and by that evening she had lost control of her bladder. We had to take her to the 24-hour emergency vet, where we made the heartbreaking decision to put her down. We only had her 23 days.
The next morning I emailed the clinic to let them know she had passed and asked if they could cancel the lab testing since it likely hadn’t been processed yet, hoping we could at least reduce part of the charge. We never received a reply. They apparently attempted one call with no voicemail and we were never contacted again. It has now been over a week with no follow-up.
My biggest concerns from this experience are: – No discussion of options or prognosis when FIP was suspected – No upfront explanation of the $400 procedure cost (or that the visit would be nearly $900) – No meaningful follow-up or compassion after we notified them of our kitten’s passing
I understand emergency situations cost money — but honest communication, transparency about pricing, and empathy matter, especially when a pet family is facing such a difficult situation. So it was a 1200.00 day. Sadly, this experience left us heartbroken and disappointed.
UPDATE: Just today the office called and apologized about the way things happened. They said they normally tell people how much services are before doing them. Unfortunately it didn't happen that way with us. They sent us a sympathy card for us losing our little kitten and in a decent gesture, gave us a refund on part of the visit. (I wasn't expecting it, so it was a pleasant surprise, considering all the heartbreak we have been through) So thank you On Point Animal Hospital!

Dr. Cecil was wonderful with our cat. We were able to be seen within a few days of needing an appointment (it was not an emergency). Our cat ended up needing dental surgery and that was scheduled quickly as well. In total, we made three visits to the office for the initial appointment, surgery, and follow up. During this time, we came into contact with several staff members- office and medical- and every single person we spoke to was caring and compassionate! We were very pleased with this office and Dr. Cecil’s care for our cat!

after my recent experience(s) i decided to find a new vet. first, i will say that whenever they could tell i was distraught about my cat not drinking enough water & peeing, they were very quick with taking her back to assess her, which i can appreciate. however, whenever i would take my cats, it didn’t feel like they were getting a full check up. they only checked a few things & rarely used a stethoscope. i kept going because im no vet, so i dont know any better. but, i recently took my cats because one of them had thrown up a worm. typically, they would take a poop sample & test it to diagnose the worm in order to give the appropriate treatment. but they told me “we can do xyz because i think its roundworm” but i had already told her that it was tapeworm due to the size and shape. i ended up spending an extra $40 on top of the $35 for the poop sample and the $65 for the exam just for them to call me the next day & tell me to throw that medication away & that they were wrong, it was tapeworm. i opted to do the injection because it seemed like the better option at the time. taking them to those appointments were genuinely traumatic. the tech had me hold them & when she used the syringe, my cat jumped from my grip with the syringe still inside of her. she was running around, freaking out & so was i. instead of just taking my other cats back, or waiting for another tech/vet to help, the tech had me hold my other cat after i told her she wouldn’t be good either. same thing happened because this one is a 7 month old ASS. had to do a booster where they thankfully took them back. afterwards i did research & they are not supposed to inject in between the shoulder blades like the tech did. (then i went to my new vet & they did it in her arm, the way my research had suggested due to health problems that can come from this). this was a month and a half ago & my cat just threw up yet another tape worm. so, $300 & literal tears and trauma to my cats later, i have to deworm them again. the receptionists are really kind though.
EDIT: had three stars, went to one due to the response to another comment. EXTREMELY unprofessional, looked up where this guy worked & referred to it. gross behavior regardless of what was said during that phone call.

This place is a freakin joke!!! If I could give negative stars I would! WORST ANIMAL HOSPITAL IVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE!!! I just recently move to town. I took my almost 14 year old shichon in as an emergency walk in bc she was in respiratory distress. They were judgmental and rude to me and my fur baby from the minute I walked in. My fur baby was loosing her bowels on the waiting room floor and they were rude bc they had to keep cleaning it up though I offered to. My baby needed groomed very badly, but, again, bc we had just recently moved here, between trying to find drs and get appts for my husband and myself and our health needs, I hadn’t gotten to finding a groomer yet. The first thing they said was that it was animal abuse five minutes after I walked in the door, made me feel even more scared when I already had a sick baby. Made me pay for all these tests and didn’t do half of them and made me pay up front before they would even see my pup. the vet didn’t even go over all of them with me, only suggested I put her to sleep bc she was in pain, so I agreed bc I didn’t want her to suffer. $1000 bill later for services I don’t even think I fully received. The vet and vet tech were extremely cold and uncaring as they were killing my baby in my arms. When I picked up her ashes and asked to talk to the office mgr who told the staff member to tell me she wasn’t available, then suddenly appeared when I started yelling, she was EXTREMELY rude. She purposely showed her face so she could be confrontational with me. She started to try to talk to me and I wasnt interested at that point so she became belligerent yelling in my face that I was a bad pet owner. She then even threatened that if I left a bad review she would post pictures of my baby. Hey whatever, I can continue to make them look bad on line bc I have so much more to say. She also said that my vet of 20 years up north put in my pups records years of neglect, which, when I called to talk to them about it, they said they did not. She told me to get out and screamed for everyone to hear that I was a bad pet owner. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE! I’ll never go there again. I’ll go somewhere else with my other two fur babies. I should’ve listened when a patient in the waiting room came up to me before they took me back and said it was not the best vet around. Do yourself a favor…don’t go to this place if you love your fur babies! I wish I could post pics of my other two pups so yall could see I’m a good pet owner.
PS: I’m reading through these reviews, it seems like I am not the only one you pissed off. I also think your responses to the bad reviews are extremely unprofessional. I will tell everyone I can to steer clear of you. Word of mouth goes far!
Also, my baby’s ashes are sealed shut in that box. How do I even know its her ashes? It could be sand for all I know with the way you ppl like to rip ppl off!?

Took my 13 year old orange tabby for physical with Dr. Cecil. They did a cortisone shot as the vet thought she had arthritis in hips, not sure anymore. Got a call today that her glucose was a little high saying she has diabetes which shocked me as she doesnt show signs. I asked for the frutisone test as my cat is prone to anxiety which also causes higher glucose. The test came back as low normal, meaning it was anxiety. When I got the results, Dr. Cecil was adamant that my cat had diabetes and needed insulin, even though the test showed no diabetes. First Dr. Cecil says its so early what why its negative. Then when I say no to the meds, she starts yelling at me that im going to kill my cat and telling the front desk that I wasn't to come back to their office. I gladly agreed and had a second opinion with another vet that my cat is not diabetic at all. I understand Dr. Cecil being passionate about pet health, but she was wrong and very unprofessional. Glad to have left. Will miss Dr. Wimpi, my cats usual vet at that location.

They took me as an emergency because my regular vet was booked and my 14&1/2 year old cat had been in distress for 3 days. They took him right back and evaluated him. Sadly he was very ill with heart disease and the most humane logical option was to put him down. It was so hard and happened so fast but the staff went above and beyond and was so wonderful and caring. I highly recommend this practice.
