I just visited with my son and daughter because my son plays saxophone at a his middle school in Florence SC and has done so for two years now. He was so excited to give this place a visit and this and the art museum was our sole reason for the travel. I let him speak with the associate and to my horror he was condescending towards him when my son asked him about the “saxophone stuff.” It was beyond clear I felt that my son was a student and even if it was not I didn’t expect the attitude that was given to my son so I began to speak for him and was still met with this condescension. After we visited the “saxophone stuff” we came back to the attendant and came back with an optimum Vandoren ligature and made our purchase. I will not be recommending or visiting again. The ligature is great quality and my son is very pleased with his purchase, however. Do with that what you will.

I was given the third degree about renting a viola for my daughter at the end of the school year. The sales associate was very rude about it. I didn't realize students don't practice their instruments over the summer?? I don't have to justify why I'm renting an instrument. I received the same poor service a few months ago when I purchased reeds for a clarinet. In both instances I was treated as if I was inconveniencing them.

A cello was rented by my family here and it sounds great! However, it broke, so it is getting fixed! The staff are very nice!

The nicest and most knowledgeable people in town. There is usually some unknown talent lightly playing something, somewhere in the store. They offer financing. Support small businesses. STAR Music for the win.
