I am the CFO of a large medical practice and understand medical billing. I have been fighting about my balance since June of 2023. I've spent at least 8 hours on the phone with BCBS reps and Charleston Pathology's offshore billing company. Every time BCBS tells me I owe nothing, based on what's been billed and yet, I've been sent to collections 2 times. This most recent time, after the claim was denied for timely filing, they sent me to collections without even trying to collect from me. I plan to report them because other patients have clearly had issues and I feel terrible for people who don't have medical billing knowledge.

Would rate zero stars if allowed. Received a collections notice almost 15 months post-procedure. I NEVER received a bill from them. All other bills associated with this procedure were received and paid within 3 months of the actual procedure. I was told it must have been due to a cyberattack that occurred last year but I’m seeing reviews from folks that have had similar experiences from over five years ago. Seems to be an ongoing and unnecessary issue.

Never once received a bill but they were quick to send it to collections and damage my credit score. Still had no notices from a collection agency either but thats a different review. HOW do you expect patients and insurance companies to pay bills if you NEVER send them??? Incredibly disappointed with whatever process you're running.
