When it comes to world music, not just rock or alternative, this space is one of the best in Montreal. Sure, vinyl can sometimes be expensive, but when it comes to the selection of Japanese music and press, Near Eastern funk and jazz, etc., the cost is a thousand times worth it, because it's the kind of stuff you can't find anywhere else.

Sonorama was the first record store I checked out in Montreal, but my favourite and one of the only places I was able to find some records to take home. The selection there is quite ample, both in quantity and diversity of genres. And, the division/organization of their records was quite good. I am not a crate digger and have no patience for it. Sonorama pointed me in the right direction for the kinds of things I was looking for. In general, the pricing is reasonable/average, but there is a section in the back that is also posted on discogs and it is on the high-end. It's certainly good stock (I got a really nice and clean rocksteady comp from the early 70s), but... read full review
